Franke Tap Valve - special tool for removing?

Hi

Just bought a new Franke valve but once I took the cover off it appears to be different to what I expected - no hex nut, just two slots. Where can I find a tool to remove the old one - looked every but can't find one plus is there a 'normal' valve underneath this? Photo attached if anyone can help please.

you could try tapping it lightly with a driver and small hammer to loosen the split nut dont go mad though, or phone franke they to see if they know of a tool

Think thats been tried looking at the burr that`s been created.

dont think it has but looks like that ring only holds the handle adaptor in so should not be too tight i might be wrong though.

Have tried tapping it with a screwdriver but not moving. Not really a burr but light scrape mark!

Pair of either good quality or £1 shop, long nose pliers and a bar/screwdriver to twist them.

Or piece of flat bar, (or hardwood) hole in it big enough to get the spindle through and 2 nails or screws to line up with the slots.

Excellent idea and it's worked - thank you. It is just a cover with the valve underneath. Took me a while to sus out it was a reverse thread but all sorted now.

Thanks to all, ESPECIALLY the reverse thread bit.
I drilled two holes in either jaw of an adjustable, 3.5mm big, put two socket screws in the holes.
Now all I need is a new cassette.
