Got a boiler to fit tomorrow. The flue will be 150mm from openable window, so the surveyor has said to fit a plume kit to take it away from window. Is this allowed? It's a Worcester going in

No its not allowed , minimum 300mm from an opening to a building and you cannot use a plume kit to extend it

why ,thought that is what a plume kit was for ,to take fumes away from places like conservatorys with openable windows otherwise what they for ?

someone posted a link on here to a worcester mi not so long ago saying you can do this
This is ringing bells with me, I think that it allows the flue tobe 150mm closer DO NOT QUOTE ME ON THAT though, I see if I can find a link.
EDit look at the link that Bronzino has posted,, WB says it can be done.

flue can come out of the wall and be less then 300mm to window, they and vailant allow it cos i have spoken to there tech services !!
you HAVE TO USE PLUME KIT TAKE PRODUCT OF COMBUSTION AWAY ! and it all make sense to you ones you open your boiler and have look on that separate book for FLUE TERMINALS that comes with it!

though you as gsr will know this !!!

the reason ive put this answer is ,my mate fitted a plume kit for this very reason cos the boiler could go nowere else in the house and the only way was with plume kit cos was near a window on next doors conservartory and he is gsr so i thought its ok

Did you already know this then when you rang their tech services. No need to HIGHLIGHT PRODUCTS OF COMBUSTION and FLUE TERMINALS I do understand. Obviously this is something certain manufacturers allow and it looks like Worcester is one of them.

yes cos I did days training with them, but I also was told about FLUES and FLUE TERMINALS in my training centre !!
Sorry if I was a bit .......I am taking it back !!!No bad thoughts here .

The plume management kit is not a standard flue. It is to aid in the removal of plume away from areas that the plume may still cause a nuisance when the standard flue is fitted to MI's/regs.
It cannot be used to make an illegally fitted flue become compliant with the regs/MI's.

"It cannot be used to make an illegally fitted flue become compliant with the regs/MI's"

how do you mean ?
can you explain ,pls!
Say the MI's state min. 300mm from opening window. You cannot install a boiler with its flue fitted 150mm from opening window and then stick on a plume kit to attempt to bring it into line with the MI's. The boiler with its standard flue is installed not to MI's.
It is called a "plume kit" it is to take away any nuisance plume. It is not a flue extension kit.

off the top of my head I am sure worcester say if a plaume management kit is usedthen distance from openable window can be reduced to 150mm

i agree with the above...it is allowed.
I would need to see this in writing then.
If I come across any WB flues as close as 150mm to an opening window with a plume kit, when the MI's state min. 300mm I will still be 'AR' it.

Have a look at this
worcs-plume-management-terminal-positioning.jpg

If you fit a plume kit then the terminal that discharges the POC's is going to be a greater distance than 300mm to an openable window. It is only the air intake on the flue that will still be 150mm, so no problem.

It turned out to be an ideal logic this morning so I rang ideal and they said that's not a problem
