Total refit of of bathroom. I've got a 40mm waste from the shower running beneath the floorboards to an external wall and out. Just above where the pipe exits is where the obvious place for the bath waste to exit as well. Should I use separate waste pipes for the bath and the shower or can the...
Hi,
Helping a friend, his soil stack is cast iron. The bath and basin wastes (all removed now) went into individual entries on the stack. These are iron pipes, with what looks like a female internal thread into which there is some sort of metal reducer with what is maybe a compression fitting...
This bath filler/overflow is supposed to turn to divert water flow to a shower above. It’s not clicking across anymore. Does anyone recognise it? Fitted in 2014. It was installed together with this Bristan inbuilt thermostatic controller.
Hi,
I'm really struggling to find out what part I need to use deck valves like this
with a overflow bath filler. Most bath fillers seem to only have one connection. This one has 2, one for hot one for cold which looks like it could work.
Anything I'm missing?
thanks
Hi
I have a BIASI gas boiler as in the pictures.
Its worked fine for 12 months. But now, for the last few days, when its first running the bath, I can hear the gas flame turning on and off…and the bath water is quite cold…..if I leave the tap running for say 5 mins, then the gas does stay on...
Heating System
Have 2 houses where identical Heating systems installed (self & neighbour)
In Dec both Baxi boilers were replaced with Viessmann Vittodens 30W due to ageing reliability issue.
System is as per drawing

The only hot tap that doesn't give constant hot water in the house is the bath tap. It gets hot for seconds and then goes lukewarm/cold. The connector had been disconnected from the tap, opened up the isolation valve and let the water run in to a bucket with the same thing happening, starts hot...
The bath taps have 22mm inlets currently the cold water mains 15mm is fixed to the tap by a copper adapter 15mm to 22mm. The hot water is 22mm gravity fed.
Is it ok to add a 15mm T to the cold water pipe and then add 22ml adaptor to the T to connect to a 22m TMV .
I cannot find any TMValves...
Hi all
I purchased a freestanding bath and when I came to cut the holes for the taps I realised the hole for the overflow is misaligned with the drainage (see photo). There's some room within the overflow hole that allows me to straighten the chrome fitting in line with the drainage, but not...
I'm installing a new bathroom. I have a combined drain for the bath and shower (2 x 40mm >> 50mm >> stack) and have a McAlpine VP2 AAV to fit under the bath to avoid syphoning of the shower trap. Is this type of AAV correct and how high does it have to be above the bath/shower traps? Thank you.
Evening
I'll go straight to it....

Hi all,
My customer is choosing a reinforced bath. They're looking at Carronite and Beauforte/ reinforced baths.
Any idea on how they compare? They both look like decent brands to me.
Thanks everyone,
Jennie
Me again. This turning out to be a nightmare from hell this bathroom. Your help do far has been invaluable.
So, the next issue is one that I may not be able to explain very well. The pictures may not help either.
Just installing the the Mcalpine bath trap and outlet. I needed it because it...
Desperate. Can anyone help me identify this bath mixer tap? Make worn off and needs replacement cartridge. External diameter is 46mm and height is 114mm
Hi all.
I'm just curious...why do bath traps use 40mm connections and pipework and yet basin traps use 32mm?
I have a very short length (1.25m) of 40mm pipe leading from the bath into the soil pipe. Half way along this run, I have a 40mm 't' connector, from which the pipework from the basin...
Hi,
I'm at a loss and need your help.
I have the attached mixer.
Water is leaking from the seal (yellow arrow)
I figured this is a washer replacement.
I've opened the screw cap (blue arrow) The screw inside is completely rusted and the head on it damaged.
The screw also turns with the handle...
Long story short, filled new bath to silicone seal. Didn't touch pop up/click waste and noticed that 90% of the water has drained overnight.
Is this normal or should these wastes block the water indefinitely?
Thanks
I’ve removed a shower tray & have installed a bath. I’ve got the trap ready to go on but how do I go about connecting pipework up to this? Obviously I will unscrew that old shower waste off.
Hi all,
I'm having a lot of trouble trying to find replacement cartridges for this set of mixer taps. They were purchased approx 10 years ago. I have been told they are from ultra finishing, but they having looked at the pics state it's not one of theirs.
Any help identifying them would be...
I’ve got a McAlpine bath waste & it’s come with the two rubber seals one for the plug (which is the bigger one out of the two in pics) & the overflow. Which way around do I put them as the plug one has one side with loads of lines compared to the other side which has a slight dip with one line...
