Hello Members,
The stopcock at the bottom of the yard.
This is the water supply from the water board.
My side of the stopcock ~ what size is the pipe?
Using 32mm MDPE, and if the size from the stopcock is 15mm,I will need 32mmx15mm(example)?
Is the size from an old stopcock usually 15mm...
Not much general plumbing experience.
Mains stopcock handle sheared off. Street isolation only outside for 4/5 houses.
So to save any faffing about was just going replace spindle.
Question is do all stopcocks have same size spindle and gland thread?
Hi all,
Just moved into a new house with a leaky tap, and want to change the washer over. Easy, right?
Turned the mains off, but the cold (leaky) tap in downstairs loo won't stop running. All other taps (kitchen, bathroom etc. hold AND cold) went off. I left it running for maybe 15 minutes...
I went to do a safety cert the other day on a Main 30kw Combi. When I called for heat, as well as the F&R pipes heating up, so did the mains supply pipe to the boiler! Had a quick look and the further from the boiler the cooler the pipe...any ideas what's causing this? Thanks guys
We are a 4 bed house. Not wanting a combo as had previously and the drop in pressure when switching taps on was annoying. We want to fit an unvented cylinder with 20/l min mains pressure. Will the pressure be ok (I don't expect it to beat down on me!) and will it run two showers simultaneously...

Hoping someone can suggest a workaround for this problem.
I have a leaking tap which is connected directly to the mains supply (just moved in to a new house) and I want to try and get it sorted as an outside water supply. Trouble is we live 800+ metres from the mains cut off and I'm on a water...
The job im on at the minute has had a 90mm water mains run into the building which I need to
put a stop tap and double check valve on for water board to inspect and then connect up.
Its massively oversized for what its serving, 32mm would have been plenty.
The biggest mdpe ive ever...
We installed a combi boiler on the 4th floor of an old block of flats a while ago and noticed the mains water pressure was extremely low. When we filled up heating we could only get it up to 0.7 bar. So you can imagine what the hot water is like once it goes through plate exchanger. Landlord now...
I live in a block of flats. We have excellent (turn the taps on and stand back excellent!) cold mains direct into each property, no tanks in lofts etc. The hot is supplied via a copper immersion cylinder in each flat - the pressure being from a small header tank atop the hot tank. Hot pressure...
Hi all,
I am not a plumber, I just come here for advice and tips as a customer of professional plumbers.
I need to replace my power shower unit, but upon investigation it seems that my power shower was plumbed with the cold feed coming from the mains opposed to the cold water tank.
Am I right...
Hi everyone,
I'm new here and would love some advice regarding my mains connection.
I'm near completing my barn conversion, and this morning filled up my system (thermal store, rads, ufh etc)with the help of my plumber(who is now gone and unavailable to ask for advice!). I fitted a new prv just...
Hi I've got a problem the builder has put a incoming mains on a new build and didn't cap it and the other end is coiled on the path water board has told him to retify it so I've flushed it out with water and capped both ends the water board has come out again and said they wouldn't continue till...
Evening all,
Fresh to the forum so hello first!
Well right to it. I am currently mid flow with a new kitchen design but need to establish something before we go any further. My mains water supply comes in directly under where the sink is currently located as normal. But if tou check the...
Popped over from the tilers forum. I need a bit of advise on mains water pumps and compensaters.
I have been looking at the stuart turner mains booster 300 which should sort out the low pressure. I'm having an en-suite in the loft and have a combined boiler. My flow is about 10lt a min but...
Hi
In my static caravan I have a Morco GB24 LPG combi boiler on the central heating side its had glycol or some other antifreeze in the system and this is ok to be left over the winter how ever I drain down the domestic water side even through the pipes a lagged I don't think its worth taking a...
Hi,
A plumber is replacing my bath for me and has highlighted the soft bright Blue Powdery/Gritty deposit that is congesting the Mains Cold 12mm copper pipe. Its lumpy and irregular throughout the pipe. I've seen Scale build-up before, and it was white and very hard. This stuff is easily moved...
