Now then fellas, just signed up as im abit stuck with a job at a tenants this afternoon, for a month or so since they had their new boiler fitted (Vallient ecotec +824) all the cold taps in the property hammer when theyre opened , which in turn causes the hot taps to kettle up and begin to pass...
Hi All,
To cut a long story short I've a Ideal istor boiler I've posted abotu previously. Its an unvented cylinder all in one boiler. Bad reputation but mine has been good over the last 2.5 years. I had a new mains fitted a year back-ish and hoped for better flow rates. This didn't happen...
Hi All,
I'm looking into ways of increasing the supply flow rate, so that my shower doesn't reduce to a trickle when other outlets are used at the same time.
The mains supply is in 15mm (what I can see of it anyway). My question is - will getting the provider to upgrade this to a bigger pipe...
I have read through all posts about lead mains replacement to MDPE.
To get my head round it can any plumbers give a guide to how it's done. I've seen parts of it done once as an apprentice.
In my case there is the drive way. So you'd dig up the drive way from the boundary stop valve to the...
Hello,
I was hoping someone could answer a query that has puzzled me for a while and nobody has been able to help all that much. I have a new mains water supply coming into the basement which has replaced the old lead version. This new connection is instantly greeted by a pressure reducing...
Hello everybody. I've been asked to fit a mains water filter, God knows why when we live in one the best quality water areas in the country but ours is not to reason why.

Hello
Experience: DIY plumbing.
i have installed a couple of cisterns and used 15mm compression to the plastic cistern connection, never had a leak. The ends of the pipes appears to be 'chamfered' if that's the correct term, for an olive, not flat like a tap connection, hence the logic...
I went to a job today of a lady complaining about the hot and cold water pressure.. She said every now and then both hot and cold stops completely then comes back on.
Naturally I think it's a gravity system and either a ballvalve issue or an air lock of some sort, or maybe a pump.
I get there...
hi, please excuse any ignorance on my part that this question may throw up.
my lead metal mains pipe enters the house and looks a respectable 3/4" outside diameter but within 6 inches it is reduced to 15mm copper to pass though the stopcock. this then passes through the water meter using 15mm...
Hi there. Any help appreciated with this one.
I've had no hot water coming from the kitchen mixer tap, so I adjusted the cylinder mechanism in the tap so that hot water flowed OK.
However, when I turned the mains water back on, the overflow pipe outside began to gush water.
Looking at the...
Hi guys. Never done this before. Have an unvented hot water cylinder to go up in a loft conversion and think I'll have to dig from the mains stopcock as the existing is old lead (7 1/2LB) 15mm and needs to be 22mm and feed back into the downstairs kitchen and up into the loft, connecting to...
Hi all.
Bumped into a guy who worked for a water supply company the other day and he mentioned that the supply company has a duty to be giving at least 10 litres per minute to a property. Is this true and if so is it true for all of the UK?
regards, chris
Evening folks, I'm about to commence work on a 8 bed new build dwelling, the custard has just emailed me, asking if i know anything about how the incoming mains from road( about 130 metre run). Is it a requirement before or after Anglian water connect it in the road? I've carried out...
I was hoping to get a professional opinion regarding whether or not a booster pump (such as a Stuart Turner 'Flomate') would do what I want it to do.
At present the flow rate in our house isn't terrible - about 10 litres per minute at its best - but that doesn't seem to go far if more than one...
Evening all, I am currently quoting for a refurbishment of 10 apartments which are currently offices. Each flat will need its own metered water supply to feed a direct 160 litre unvented cylinder which feeds one bathroom in each apartment. The building currently has 2 x 25mm water mains...
Evening peeps,
Ive been asked to carry out the work on a 7/8 bed new build, now usually when i do new builds the incoming main is never to far from the road, so the builder/s usually deal with that. This job is for a private customer, who has literally built the house...
Hi, I've got to go to a job where builder has snapped the cold the cold mains, he described it as bieng plastic , and snapped at the slightest touch , I know what he's on about as I have done the same , I've only encountered it once , I believe was used in the 70's, but need to get a fitting but...

Hi all,
Have discovered a leak between the water meter and the stop-cock under the house somewhere. A lot of it is buried under the floor/in concrete so have no way of getting at it to find and fix. I'd like to run a new 25mm from the meter (under the drive) and pop it up at the corner of the...
