I am fitting a kitchen sink tap, it is a Deva tap with built in filtered water tap. As the threaded bar for the back nut is also the inlet tube for the filtered water then it has a 14mm back nut. All the long sockets I can find end at 13mm, there is no room at all for a small spanner so wondered if anybody has any ideas? The only one I can think of is bending the end of a 14mm ring spanner 90deg and trying to use that although do not know if it would fit over the nut with the normal tails fairly close.

Halfords or any good garage with a retail forecourt should be able to supply you with a 14mm box key. Mines is 14 on one side and 16 on the other.

Long or deep sockets are readily available on ebay. Also the old original standard size sparkplug spanner is 14mm so you may have a socket set with one of these in it. If not we have a really good secondhand tool shop down here that has a lot of odd ball things like this. Do you have such a place up your way?

if you are doing alot of monobloc taps, you are better with long reach sockets than box spanners. use the long reach sockets with a good quality ratchet, get a few extension bars, i have a 3" bar & two 6" bars. box spanners are harder to use in tight spaces than a ratchet. most monobloc taps are 8-13mm. You should not have a problem getting a 14mm long reach socket.
