A week ago, I fitted a new syphon, new inlet valve, new isolator, new handle and also a new close couple bracket (had to hacksaw through the bolts).

Turned into a nightmare of a job and the customer was at work all day. I was left with his 86 year old Dad.(who turned up late so didn't start till 11.30)

The initial problem was a poor flush but like all things this job went from bad to worse. The eventual bill was £120 which wasn't there. I took £100 cash and the promise of a cheque in the post for £20.(I knew he wasn't happy at the time when his dad called him on his mobile)

Just called the customer and apparently the flush is no better blah blah... although he's just got back from Scotland! He can see all the work that I've done. (which he admitted to)

So, I explained to him that theres no way I'm going to be able to please him, so don't worry about the £20 we'll leave it there. The phone went silent and he then said that'll be acceptable.(will it f@£$%^g really)

I'm annoyed and disappointed because when I left the job I knew I wasn't going to get my £20 and I knew that he wouldn't be happy and that'd be the excuse.

I hate the thought of being mugged off and want to rip his head off of his shoulders............. aaaaaaahhhhhhhh😡😡😡😡😡
 
take it there are no guarentee if anything goes wrong then?.
bit like buying a new tv with no reciept.
 
My thoughts exactly, damned annoying when I know I did a good job. If a customer has got an issue they should phone this T@£T had no intention of paying (otherwise I wouldn't have had to contact him 10 days later, wish I hadn't). What really hurts is I knew it as I left the house and there was nothing I could do about it.

Still its another learning curve. If the customer is not a repeat customer make sure everything you do is ok with them first, even down to a fibre washer. Make sure the customer is present not his 82 year old dad

I've consoled myself in as much as I've earnt out of it but not enough to justify the time spent there.
 
Sorry to hear that Squirrel, did the same a few weeks back ...cheque'll be in the post etc blaa blaa. And three weeks later still no money, went round three times nobody ever in...so I turned up sunday night 12 midnight and he answered and said he would pull the money out for me tommorrow CASH , I said that I would preffer the money immediately so I had him in his pygamas in my van and drove him to a cash point there and then. He'll probably cough up next time ...you should have seen the look on his face when he opened the door it was priceless.

And the moral of this fable folks is always get paid in full immediately or spend weeks P***ing around chasing cowboy customers for cash. 😉
 
Funny you chaps should post this, but i did some work for a plumber back in March this year, and he has only just paid me in September after many, many reminders 😀

Back OT, its a way of life that you just have to take the ruff wiv da smooove.
