1. Replaced cylinder few months ago. Pressure ever since has been poor to all hot outlets.
Tried replacing gate valve, blasting with mains etc but still very slow. Only difference from old is size, was a 1040, now a 950 high cylinder, and obviously the feed to taps GPS up 300 mm then across rather then across straight out of cylinder, there is a shower pump which is wrongly installed but I isolated this and still having problems, also changed vent as wasn't high enough. When opening tap it splutters a lot like air is gettin in and pressure gets lower and lower until it is a dribble.
2. Worcester Bosch 18ri, installed, all working, but rattles as if solder stuck in pipework, tried draining and heating pipes with no joy, my assumption is that it is on 2 couplings above boiler , my guess is a bit of solder that is stuck but is knocking against pipe, any ideas?

1. Since you've shrunk the cylinder in size, the head pressure would of increased a tiny bit surely? Sounds to me like theres a air lock. How is the hot pipe off the cylinder piped up? Majority of the time the hot pipe off the cylinder to the 1st tee is normally to blame (i.e. Is it level)

2. I installed same worcester, sounded like solder inside boiler, also started to get a eggy smell. Worcester turned up, replaced the pump, said its a common problem. Is it still in guarantee? Let them worry about it 🙂

Hmm so you have blasted the mains into the hot at the cylinder or via back feeding?

Say its doing it to all outlets and it hasn't sorted the issue, all the outlet filters could be partially blocked or you have a blockage at a common place before the first take off.

once when i was replacing a HWC when i drained down all the crap got stuck in the tap filters check them first

Head of pressure will remain the same as it is measured from water level to tap outlet. Also Ri doesn't have an integral pump, its heat only.

Probably an air lock on domestic Pipework, or could be foam jammed in outlet of tank?

A few options on an airlock, if you have a kitchen mixer tap with mains cold , coke bottle top over the outlet and open them both up, should force mains up the cold and will clear. Failing that you'll have to make up some kind of link, outside tap to washing machine tap or similar.

Every tap outlet???

Had the internal bag pop on an old water softener.
looked like caviar coming out of the dhw plate in the oil boiler, ran around and blocked up 4 showers, 2 baths, kitchen tap, 5 toilet fillers and 4 basins.

"oh it doesn't work, lets use another, OH that doesn't work either, lets use another one!!"

more flipping money than sense some people

My bad, thinking about another worcester boiler, ignore me lol

aha

Im in stitches!
To be fair, the guy has to put up with Cameron every week, i see him on tv and want to slap him, imagine if you have scissors in your hands!
MBE for self restraint

I think hot is as posted in post 2, it has elbow instead of a bend, meaning more resistance. I hope.
i have got a load of x300 so either going to flush the pipework or remove and flush with mains, undecided at moment

Just to clarify I blasted hot by holding hand over mixer tap in kitchen, then connected a washing machine hose to cold outlet and hot outlet under sink, still didn't work. Does seem like air getting in somewhere or blockage but nothing blocking it

I had a similar problem. After about 2 hours I realised what it was - a kink in the supply pipe under the house which was restricting the flow.

Prior to then, the original cylinder had a huge expansion vessel so when a tap was run, the flow stayed pretty constant for a couple of minutes. With the new cylinder and smaller vessel, the flow ran to a trickle after about 30 seconds.

Now it hadn't always been as bad as this, it's just that the problem became more noticeable. About a fortnight later, the situation had got so bad that it necessitated digging up the patio to sort it out.

I have had the foam insulation getting trapped in the top outlet once before. Difficult to trace as when you drain the cyl it disappears!
ive also had a cylinder with the bottom connection welded on but the cylinder not fully punched out.
