Hi I got a opportunity to go self employed how much roughly should I ask for a day
I am newly qualified
Got 2 years experience
Own van and tools
Willing to learn
In south wales

Charge a fair price fur each job

Not every job is going to be a full day, so you really need to figure it an hourly rate. Add up the cost of running your business -

Van insurance, servicing, repairs, depreciation, tax.
Liability insurance
Work clothes, including laundry
Electricity, heating, computer, phone bill
Tools purchase, depreciation
Accountants fees
Etc. Etc.

Add how much you want to earn. Divide by 48 (assuming 4 weeks holiday a year). Divide by anywhere between 25 and 35 (assuming a 40-hour week), depending on how much travelling you think you'll do between jobs.

Then have the confidence to charge that.
