anyone getting nowere after quoting

am getting fed up quoting and getting no were, i had a job to quote few weeks ago with the bloke wanting the boiler in a cuboard in the middle of the house it needed quite a high vertical flue extention plus there was 2 tanks to be removed one on top on the other then another old one above that which all would have had to be moved so i said put it in a cuboard in the bathroom also the bog needed moving new gas main as it was in 15mm and parts in lead, rads in all diffrent places awkward places just a nightmare of a job anyway quoted £2400 the forolli optimax 31c then £2700 for potterton heatmax 28 he the bloke says he gone to someone else cheaper ,all that work working it out, petty. time pricing this has happened 3 times now in last couple of months just wonder how anyone can go any cheaper as i work for a wage not to rip people as not alot about anyone who,s cheaper carnt be gas safe as am one my limit,anyone else this happened to

I picked up a few boilers last month for installing in May, but really had to cut my prices down. New Vaillant combi c/w flue, honeywell programmable room stat, fernox TF1 filter, condensate pump, pipe,fittings and fixings, flushing and labour for a day. all for £1850. Not much profit in it but its work.

and now Ive just had a call saying I was the most expensive for a Vaillant Ecotec Pro 28, 8m of vertical flue,5 Rads, Filter, condensate pump etc etc at £2600 for one I quoted for in Edinburgh city centre on Friday..lol this will be my downward spiral beginning, in a way Im kinda glad because I reckon it could have been a nightmare of a job.

just begining to wonder why i paid out so much for this gas and just get beat all the time on price ,betime i took days off last yr and paid for the course/college
it came to about £8000 then theres tax beginning to think it was a waste of dosh and should have got a loan for some land for a campsite in wales plus all the stress of trying to pass ,nightmare,probs makin about £500 more than i was before then theres the tax saying there after us all for not declering wish i could earn enough not to declare makes ye laugh

thats cheap mate,for the same kind of job i be quoting at about £2600, but been honest the last ten jobs i have quoted i have not got,i don't know what i should do for the best ?

its a problem with people not having much money , i have had a real bad 3 to 4 week run was pricing works but not winning anything and i know im not dear in my pricing (at least i thought that ).I have just recently priced a heat pacjk 5 rads and boiler with 5 year parts /labour warranty . My labour is only £700 as need to win a job , told my riend this and he said current climate thats quite steep he's going in at £600 on labour on packs that size!!! Cant really compete on that sort of scale .

Im usually around the £2K mark for a bog standard boiler swap with new controls and system flush etc. My labour is usually worked out at £30-35 /hr and I usually mark up 10% on materials. Its very tight out there especially round my way, but Im hoping to get remedial work from the customers who I didn't win when their new boiler falls into a pile round about October..

same for us, just had one customer who has REALLY annoyed me today, i ran around like a mad man on saturday and spent hours breaking down a quote for a 4 bed house with kitchen utility room 2 bathrooms and a cloak room, gave the customer options of running all pipework in plastic or copper or both, gave them 3 boiler options with the controls to suit, prices for 1st fix only of bathrooms and kitchens and also 1st and second fix. emailed the completed quote yesterday (the mid range price when combining certain options came to about £7k) which i thought was pretty cheap really. the customer came back to me today saying shes found a boiler on ebay how much would i charge just to install the boiler only as her hubby is going to "TRY" and do the rest.
i must have spent at least 10 hours running around getting prices, measuring up off a scale plan, putting all the parts lists together, and all the other stuff you do, i feel like i might aswell have spent my weekend doing something fun instead.

and they say how much ,you plumbers are on a fortune,wish i could earn that,just dont no where they get it from ive been at this by myself 3 and a half yrs and still loosing but the money ive paid out i carnt just give up, think i should have just stayed at city plumbing

had bad February and march ,this mount i priced 4 and i got 4 boiler change jobs ! customers liked the 5 years warranty and been not VAT register even cash jobs better of for customers as VAT can be from 500 to a 1000 just on one job ! now i done three of them and go long weekend of started today ! to morrow going to scrap yard with a lot of scrap bags and two cylinders plus going to see job tomorrow, job has been price by two businesses one was 18 k another 22k and all for full install CH,UHWSS and new boiler plus 1 and 2 fix 3 bathrooms !

Just had to renew my liability and tool insurance £500 !
Next mouth is the van insurance , van for service and mot plus will need new brake pads a
And new belts on the air con and fun as is making noice !
But is got to be done . Smile and enjoy the good days and hope for mo work to those of us

I just had to get 4 new brake discs, pads, new alternator, new leef spring and service and MOT🙁... cost me £830 would of probably cost alot more if my mate didnt work at the garage

Just managed to confirm a Vokera Compact 25HE boiler swap in Mid May, That's my weekends fully booked now. Gee the wife is gonna be really pleased!
