Hello,

My customer has a continuously dripping shower - Aqualisa Quartz A2 - gravity feed - and I am loath to try and dismantle it to try and strip and repair it given the unusual nature of its design and limited technical information that seems to be available.

The black moulding that the hot and cold feed go into inside the "no user servicable parts inside" grey box looks like it is glued together ? IS this actually servicable ?

Does anybody here have experience of stripping these down ? or have any other advice. The manufacturer seems to have gone out of their way to make it almost unserviceable.

Should I take it out of circuit in their loft (which could also be fun as somebody appears to have butchered the isolating valves) and try and repair it or just tell them they need a replacement. As the customer is a young couple I am trying to make it cost effective for them as I suspect they would not have the ££ required for a new unit.

Any experienced advice most welcome. Thank you.

Hi Glismore
Get a new one !!! I had one of these at home, so did not mind playing around to see if it could be fixed. There are bits you can get at inside including two plates driven by a motor (similar to ceramic disc taps) these do the on/of & mixing but you could spend hours & hours taking it apart & putting it back together again, I did, it nearly went out the window a couple of times !!! I am all for trying to repair things but in this case I would get them to buy the newer version (black box) as I ended up having to. (Labour costs could well out way the replacement)

Are you sure it's grevity fed ? or has some one connected cold to mains ? (Cold from storage tank) Hot from cylinder !

Hello jtsplumbing,

Thanks for your comment.

I checked the pipework back from the unit and the cold feed is tapped into the bottom of the cold water tank in the loft. I didn't personally check all of the hot feed as it disappeared into somewhere inaccessible. Could there be an issue with the hot side inlet only that would cause a constant drip? My suspicion is that it is all clogged up inside with calc etc but do not want to attempt to dismantle the unit given the dearth of technical info available and the probability of breaking some tiny, but very expensive, part.

Are you in hard water area ? may have a scale problem, if you can remove pump poor some vinegar in to inlet's and let it stand overnight then rinse out , never know it may work !!

Rechecked hot supply , it is also gravity feed. Customer is not willing yet to pay to take the digital processor box out and replace or repair and will put up with the dripping for another while. If anything changes I'll post here again. Thank you to those that commented on my original question.
