ariston water heater help!!

Hi, hope someone can help. i have recently fitted an ariston europrisma under sink water instantanouse tank, it was working fine on the few times i tested it over a week. no leaks and nice hot water. i have fitted it in a chalet which is only used a few times a year by the owner. they came down on thursday and used the ariston and it was working fine, no leaks and hot water!. however i just got a text to say that when they switched it on this morning, there was no power to the heater (no red light) and no power in the switch for the heater (no red light) and its leaking slightly from the dialectric coupling from the tank....i must have done something wrong but dont know what. the heater has been fitted with pressure reducing valve, pressure relief valve and expansion vessel. could someone please shed some light on what i have done wrong please. hope this picture helps.

not fitted one myself. is it electricly heated, i presume it is? is the red light on normally when working correctly? if so it would suggest an electrical fault on the incoming supply

is the leak just a leak that can be fixed?

Where was power supply taken from ? What size cable did you use ?? have you asked them to check the MCB, RCBO or RCD to see if it has tripped.
PS is that a sink or a basin above the heater.

an electrician did the electric side of it, dont know what size cable he used, no idea! customers have chewcked mcb ect and they say its all working fine! and its a sink above the heater

then surely its an electrical problem, have you checked the wiring? how is it wired?

Blown fuse in spur?

Is it leaking from brass FI elbow connected to unit? I know the hyco units state that they must be coupled with flexi's ( sorry system3 🙂 )

not now no! it was working fine, then they switched on again to use it and there was no power

I would check electrical supply,it sounds like a blown fuse

If you have no power coming into the unit then it could be the fuse board(if it's the fuse board it will trip after a couple of minutes), you can normally check this by putting a plug on the heater and taking the juice from the socket and waiting to see if it trips.

If you ever find the fuse blows instantly then it tends to be a defective element.

If you have power coming in and no light on, then either the stat is defective or the overheat has kicked in and requires resetting(try running the heater at a lower temp).

You have a warranty use it.

In a ideal world the expansion vessel would be fitted as close as is practical to the unit and you would have no draw off between the check valve and the unit.

Get the sparky back to check what he as done, if thats OK then call out Ariston, never had any problems with these units,

If the unit has power and there's no light on then it's either overheated or the stat is defective both warranty calls

If the board is found to be tripping and it's proved to be a installation fault then there could be a charge as its not a warranty issue. it's very rare for the element to be defective, the element is the only thing on the unit to blow fuses as soon as you put power to it .

I find sparks blame the unit off the bat and don't normally sort it.

Well it turned out to be electrical fault on main switch. The leak repaired in seconds, loose nut. The photo shown is actually not the finished job and it does have flexi from couplings now. Thanks for our help. First time fitting one and all your advice was most appreciated. And best off all customer happy!
