i am currently working on a house which the bathroom is on the ground floor, it has a really old unit in and i have now changed the bath and sink, tomorrow the shower and shower tray are been delivered so i will be doing that but my problem is with the toilet

With it been on the ground floor the waste goes straight into the floor and to the drains, i cant move it at all and it sits 10" off the wall so the new toilet is going to be sat against the wall and would be sat over this waste hole

i have thought about boxing it or putting in a vanity unit, i am not very good with wood work so not going to do it myself, i have been looking for vanity units but everywhere i look it comes with toilets, does anyone know where i could get one, preferably tomorrow morning pick up in Durham area
what sort of prices would i be looking at

Thanks

they havent got the cash and i havent got the time to do that, its too much of a job, i just need a unit to come off the wall about 12inches

If you need to ask that question then perhaps you shouldn't be doing the job!
IMO

Box it in with some 18mm plywood and some 4"x2". It can then be painted or tiled. Fit a small worktop as a lid. It's so easy to do and not rocket science.

Other alternative and the easiest and quickest (rather than moving the soil) is to install a low level cistern and toilet.

Thanks, didnt you start somewhere one day, sure we all have to start out at the bottom and learn as we can, i bet you couldnt drive before having a lesson, you have learnt through the years, i asked a simple question and i dont expect a response like that

update on the work, i ended up boxing it out, they are happy with what i had done so im happy, it looks good considering im not a joiner..... at least they have a shelf and they can do what they want with it all such as tile or paint

it was easier than i thought it would be.... took me a while though as im not used to working with wood, if i hadnt of had that to do i would of done the job in half the time, all that work for me to install a toilet in about 20 mins
il post some pics when i am at home as im at work and cant post pics on this comp as so many things are blocked

Sorry if I offended your delicate sensitivities.

I like to encourage potential tradesmen to think for themselves rather than just ask 'what do I use and how do I do it'.
As you eventually found out, it wasn't too difficult and you needn't have asked such a question.

it was through asking people i got the ideas from, this is why you have forums like this to speak your mind, ask questions about things and learn things, im not sensitive to it at all but just cant understand why you would have to say such a thing when like i say we all start somewhere

i do think for myself all the time on things, i learn from the stuff i do and have worked with others who i have learned from, its all about building up that knowledge

You can't learn everything by asking questions on forums, in read life if you asked a silly question you would get slated something rotten, it's part and parcel of the camaraderie of trades.

You ask a silly question, get told that you are a twit, your response is to sulk.
