lame plumber

loaded the old trailer with a tonne or so of iron, old rads boilers and rnli scrap, plus my copper and took the disco and trailer off to town to the scrappies. Luckily, i was only doing 40 ish when the rear suspension bag decided it had had enough and exploded, left me thinking I'd lost a tyre as it threw the bleedin truck everywhich way for a bit. Scared the brown stuff out of me and the beemer passing me 🙂. So pulled up to have a look and knew straight way what had gone. Still they recommend changing them every 5 years, in pairs, but being a tight sod, they get swapped when they pop with me. So its sitting on a ramp awaiting an £85 bag to arrive as against the £235 for one from a landy garage!!. All the landy experts will be saying swap them for springs, but being able to jack yer bum up has got me out of the mud a couple of times, and being tight has also prevented me from whacking a winch on the front as well 🙂

So got £200 out of the scrappie, when I arrived eventually and costing me a bit more to repair, but the good thing was it didnt happen when the Mrs was driving with our lovely little grand daughter strapped in with her, as the Mrs never seems to drive below 60mph!!!! and she doesnt always clear the corners when its all working ok, let alone when its leaning to one side!!!!!!!!!

by bag you mean your discos on air suspension?heard there a bit cack

just so, good idea in the main, but they leak n pop etc so can be a pain. Having said that, then can be useful as well, so 6 of one etc etc. But when they go bang when towing, thats scary!!

got terrafirma allterrain shocks and springs on mine, work well under heavy loads, normal driving etc,bit to hard offroading though, too firm,if the ride qualities good with the disco i would say stick with bags

seems to be the way ahead, as my ride is bad enough at present, the Mrs moans and springing her up would make her moan even more. even been looking at disco 4s online, doesnt hurt to dream🙂 but the road tax is stupid!!

my mrs found that with her gaylander,co2 on the logbook, pays a lot more tax than my defender

only came to £191, parts around £172 and the rest was 1/2 an hours labour 🙂, picked it up this afternoon, bit odd being upright again
