Hi fellow engineers. Iv came across this fire front connected to a bbu and I need to spillage test it but can't work out exactly where to do it. Iv tried ringing baxi to get a set of mi's for the fire front but they haven't even got one. There's no port on the left hand side as on some of the fire fronts, now I know some fires test at the end of the spigot where it meets the bbu but until I know otherwise it's staying capped off!! Any helps appreciated. Thanks

Sorry pictures are on my work phone. It's a god awful radiant fire with ugly surround full of different coloured glass shards.

Ohhh, been a while since I saw one of those.

Whats its GC again? Scratch that found it 3707706

As far as I can see from the MI's I have there should be a tube on the left of the radiants.

A lot of the early fires the test point was a hole on the left hand side of the fire, do you know what model the fire is ?? Sorry just found The Bermuda 'B' and its on the left hand side, Turn fire on full for min insert smoke match 3mm into test point if no smoke from side hole then its ok, if getting smoke from hole run fire for another 5 min and repeat test

Yeah that's the gc number. What exactly am I looking for then? I may be blind but there never seemed to be any place at all on left as I did check. The model of fire is Bermuda b

either a hole in the LH side of the fire heat exchanger or if its blocked or not fitted around the back of the fire just inside the flue hood of the boiler dont think the b had a hole to test in the fire so round the back just inside the flue hood, you need to do the test with fire and bbu running

On the left side of the radiants there is a square tube with small hole. You push the smoke match into that from the bottom, in my experience they are often chocked up and the smoke spills out a bit. I do them at the spigot right at the fire if the tube is blocked.

I once tried to clear one with my hoover on blow.......I wouldn't recommend that btw....

As bigads28 says a long thing stuck to left of fire with hole or without ( usually c5, pw3 etc etc). if not as gasman says stuff your hand round the back and spillage where the fire flue enters the flue hood.

Never knew that. I would have thought testing round the back isnt testing the pull through the fire

Thanks gents. I'm pretty sure there's no place on left hand side to test but you have put my mind at rest about testing it at the flue hood. Cheers

You are still testing the flue is drawing POC's through the back of fire.
A lot of the baxi fires have no test point at front as shown and you have check spill at flue hood at back.
