Hey chaps

What core drill set would you recommend. Didnt want to spend too much if i can help it. The Rothenberger full set is about £140 all in but im open to suggestions if anybody has a better alternative.

Cheers.

i have makita cores they are quite good, norton are good too, rottenburger are ok tho🙂

I reckon the best bet is to buy a cheapish set to start with and as you wear the cores out replace with better quality. That way you'll find out which cores you use regularly and not waste money buying an expensive core bit that you'll never use. A coupleof the core bits in the set I've got have never seen the light of day.

This looks a good price, wish I'd bought this than the premier set from Lawson at the same sort of money.

Have you tried the diamond cores from *********? They're a sponsor and I know its all alot of us use now.

I bought an un branded set costing about £140.00 four years ago. the cores are great but the mandrels are soft and the SDS one actually twisted during coring. I will go for a trusted brand next time.

I got an unbranded core set from PDM drains and it has served me well, £120. Once individual cores start to wear I am going to replace with one of the brands, hopefully Hilti if they're not too pricey

Norton are pretty good value, as are Marcrist.

The Rothenberger ones are just a rebadged version of one of the two given above for a higher price I believe.

Hilti are top of the range

365 drills currently only do small core drills for drilling tiles, and not large masonry ones.
