BG Strikes Again

I just found out that a buddy of mine had BG replace a boiler in one of his flats. He couldn't get hold of me to check the figures so went ahead with the price they gave him. So it's a straight forward install in an easy access exterior wall 1 st floor flat, glow worm POC boiler, one out one in job. £3000 plus vat.!!!!!!! Not only that but the installer is a subby, been on the job 2 days and it's still not finished, and he's broken the granite worktop upstand, and BG say making good to pipe boxing is not in the price.

Yes it was as straight forward as it gets. The old boiler was not boxed in, flow and return pipes exposed, loft above the flat, the system was unvented, BG had just repaired the cylinder the week before. The only mod was to the exhaust as it was too close to a window and needed a snorkel. They did not even flush the system.

Done a power flush Monday this week. 6 rads in a small cottage with a ideal logic + combi fitted.

BG quoted £1150 + vat & said it would take 2 days

In & out in one day + fitted all new rad valves & a magnaclean, I was less than half of that price.

Makes you wonder why people still use BG

Hasn't it always been the case?

And still they roll on, shows the power of TV advertising & the ignorance of the general public if you ask me.

Still begs the question fubar1000 why are you not charging more ?

You should never be under half their price for the same job put your prices up you are underselling.
