Hi all,

Recently, me and my Corgi/Gas safe pal have fitted in a Biasi 24 non condense in.

The boiler is brandnew, it was fitted 2weeks prior, but only switched on today and has resulted in a problem already. Basically when it comes to fire up it goes through it's normal cycle but then all of a sudden it cuts out after 3-5 seconds of firing.

Just to clarify it's doing the same thing on both Heating & H/W modes

So far we've done all the basics..

-Checked flue for blockages externally
-Filled system up with approx 1.3bar pressure
-Thermostat wiring double checked
-Switches & timer controls checked
-Gas pressure checked
-Water temp switch bypassed, still nothing.

We couldnt do much more at this time, as it was now getting late in the evening, hitting 7pm.

Another thing which grabbed my attention was, the boiler power light keeps flashing normal pulse, even though the Control knob is on the OFF position.
AND
Even when the lock out lamp is ON, the boiler fires up for around 2-3 seconds then cuts off, but doesnt do this as frequent, maybe every 20mins or so.

Can anyone shed some light on this abnormal functionality??

Must be a very old boiler even thou it's new

And by the sounds of it your corgi mate is breaking the law

But sounds like you got a faulty sit gas valve control box. But there are other more experienced on this boiler that will kno if it is this box or the pcb

Biasi ... hehe! Like riming slang with a muslim sect .. Shiite!

never mind .. eh! hopefully you'll learn not to install something that is at leas 10 month beyond it's sell by date!!! Just to make some money!

Owner of the premises purchased 2 of these back in Feb this year and had one left over, as he owns a number of properties. He said he had it dry stored in his warehouse away from any dampness, mind you it was never opened either.

I know what you mean about the band A & B issue, but i don't think he's throwing a brandnew boiler away.

I believe so the Law kicked in from April this year.but lets not get into this now, as we gonna start drifting away from the topic.

I had a feeling it was something to do with the PCB too, due to the fact that the boiler illumination light wasn't turning off when the control knob is on the OFF position and it self ignites with the lock out lamp ON.

pritty sure a biasi 24's non condensing isnt even band b boiler, and was a heap of crap when new, take it out is my opinion! i wouldnt of fitted for free in my house!

I remember when i was a apprentice, my dads mate (old school corgi bloke) used to take me with him on weekends and he used to fit loads of these back then, they were pretty booming back in early 2000.. Pretty easy to fit compared to some of the others, but the spare parts prices also hit the roof, like most boilers usually.

Anyways.. It's turned out to be the PCB after replacing it with another, total shame really BRANDNEW and already this, i would expect something like this from a Heat line boiler sold in B&Q.

It's normally in the first period of a boilers life or last that they show faults hary_j ... It's called the bathtub effect! Hi call rate for initial faults or nothing for ages then faults become more and more frequent nearing the end of their life 🙂 .. Did you get to swap the pcb on warranty?

By-the-way ... I wasn't making fun of the Muslim faith ... only pointed out the rhyming slang! If it offended then it weren't meant to matey!

Glad to know you got it sorted! 🙂

Your alright pal, we not here to slate each other, so i'm cool with it.

I had a spare PCB laying around in my basement, which i brang along to test, but it's done the trick.

Regarding the warranty issue, My mate won't issue the owner a Cert cos of the Banding issues, but he's fine with it, cos he'll get some other chap to back date a Cert for him, then claim it off the warranty, LOL!

lmao!!! Warranty on a band d!

tongue were placed fully in the cheak when I were typin like!!! LOL

hary_j ... I'd think it more than his jobs worth to register the installation! It isn't a hanging ofence though, although it's made out to be by some!

i no exactly whats wrong with this i have had the same problem had to call biasi out in the end as am gas safe and because your not mate i carnt tell you cos your not allowed to touch them sound mean but thats the law but beleive me its something so simple and you will never spot it i didnt and its a factory fault

also if they were bought over a year ago doesnt it come under the pre april rule cos they were bought for that job and the warrenty should still count i could be wrong but a shaw if you bought them before april for a pecific job and had a agreement with the customer you could still fit them you just carnt go out and buy one now and fit it

If you ain't got anything nice or useful. Why say it!

He may not be registered but he has now done the job anyway

And it was the pcb at fault if you missed a post out when reading this

Thanks for contributing thou

Hi sparra1100.

My own personal belief is that this sight isn't just for gas safe blokes but the general public too ... Like yourself i was all righteous and finger pointing regards "you shouldn't be telling Joe Bloggs that!" However I've leaned since that I feel more comfortable helping folk who'd otherwise potentially do some damage to themselves or worse; than watch them do the damage ... 🙂
There is a fine line that you alone can draw regards the info you divulge. Be comfortable with that IMHO
