Ok where to start. Called to a customers home to attend a Riva Advance he with an intermittant fault. On viewing the combi for the first time alarm bells start chiming. Theouter covers are off and the inner case screws are slack and the case is not sitting tight home. It is clearly drawing air from the room it is igniting but burning rough and ignition is with a bang. I close the case tight and the ignition sequence fails to ignite the burner. Fan is spinning up pump is turning. I suspect blocked flue so shut it off and go check the flue outlet. Find that the concentric 60/100 standard flue which extends beyond the wall face by aprox 340mm is crushed flat to the depth of the internal exhaust tube blocking almost all of the lower half of the air intake. I point this out to the customer and advise that it is likely contributing to the fault. Eitherway it needs sorting. So I change it for an undamaged biasi horizontal flue. Case back on. boiler fires its noisy like the fan is hitting a certain vibration or resonance its like someone blowing across a beer bottle neck and It still burns rough. I analyse it and it peaked at 6000 ppm co. I revert to manufacturers specs and follow the guide to set the gas valve. I get the co2% to sit at the required 8.8% on minimum burner but the co is still high. The co2% is out of range on max burner. Also now the gas valve has been adjusted the ignition sequence fails cycling through sparking till it locks out. I have had the burner out and it is fine as is the primary heat exchanger and air intake duct to the fan. I am going to call biasi in the morning but im not holding my breath. Anyone here got any ideas what mightb e the cause. The only thing I can think of that I havent been able to check is fan speed.
