Bristan mixer tap spout seals.jpgBristan mixer tap spout seals.jpgHi, I purchased a Bristan mixer tap about 3 years ago and it is now leaking at the bottom of the spout. There are two '0' ring seals. Been on to Bristan who say these 'O' rings are 'special size' and cannot be supplied as a spare part. Get this - they say you have to purchase a new spout Assembly costing £61.37 in order to get the seals. Their 5 year guarantee does not cover leaks due to seal wear (so much for the guarantee) does anybody on here have any idea how I can obtain these seals 'O' rings. I just cannot believe they cannot be obtained separately? Is it a case of buyer beware when purchasing mixer taps.

Thank you for any comments.

Mike

I have spent ages looking for the right size of "0" ring for all types of appliances and have to admit that it usually time wasted. You are probably best biting the bullet and buying a new spout. That one looks a bit worse for wear anyway.

mike welcome to the forums, first thing i would try is to get some silicone grease and use it liberally over the o rings and reassemble. more often than not this cures the leak.

mike bristan do spare parts for their taps go to bristan.com and do a search. i got a set of o rings for an old monoblock tap no problem.

just had a look for a tap similar to yours £3.37 gets you two o rings split seal and top seal

Thanks Steve, I have a set of those parts you refer to but they don't fit the spout in question! Bristan say they are 'special 'O' rings and will only supply complete with the spout. Sharp practise I say!!
