The heat exchanger bottom plate is leaking in my Ideal Icos HE12 boiler. Apparently its not an O ring type gasket but a silicon paste and they often fail if they are stripped down and a new paste applied.

So what I want to know is can I put Fernox sealer into a microbore system or is it likely to block if theres an air bubble....and is it likely to do the job of sealing the heat exchanger?

Thanks for any input

Strange question , do you have an air bubble in your system then ? F4 will seal the leak it stays liquified untill it finds a leak then seals it , a bit like rad weld only ten times better

hah, I suppose it is strange. Perhaps I have'nt worded it properly. Just had a Corgi installer round and he felt that the Fernox might seal the heat exchanger but because I have microbore he was worried that it could cause a blockage in the future. I suppose he was thinking if you get an air bubble, I mean are'nt they fairly common?
