Can I heat hot water with valve shut off in airing cupboard

I have a dripping hot water kitchen tap and have isolated the supply in the airing cupboard until I have chance to fix the tap. Does anybody know if it's safe to still heat the hot water (standard header tank set-up) with the hot water valve shut in the airing cupboard

yes it will heat the cylinder as normal
