Hi, Im Begining to get the tit of the constantly wet cistern & bathroom floor.😡

The incoming water is directly below the toilet and the cistern is fed from that, so there is ice cold water filling a ceramic cistern & a warm room temp which as you all know makes for a condensation problem.

  • toilet quite near bathroom rad, but unable to move rad
  • tried reducing room temp, and ventilating
  • Pipes are to short to insulate, & already boxed in.
  • dont want to change cistern to plastic
  • insulating inside cistern looks fiddley
What I plan to do, which also looks the easiest/quickest is to switch the cistern feed onto the hot water pipe, to totally eliminate the condensation.
Are there any reasons to not do this?

Your advice is appreciated!! Cheers😀

Line the cistern with polystyrene tiles or even a real thin yoga/camping mat this maybee will work, what about getting a feed from the cwsc if you still have one that water may be a little warmer or what about moving/extending the cold feed next to a heating pipe that may be enough to heat the water/pipe enough. what do ya recon guys?

The insulation of cistern already stated in old thread I guess he don't think this will work

with reference to the insulation method using mats ect, I dont think it would cover the surface area effectively enough. Would using a spray foam on the inside of the cistern work, if I drained & dried it?

You could try it but it you cut down the eater volume to much it will not flush enough water down

Take a cold feed from your tank, (unless youve a combi) it will be that little bit warmer.

i think spraying something on the inside may be the only way to create a barrier between the very cold water and the wall of the cistern, let us know how it goes

Agree with Blackcat and Steve.
Only way to eliminate this is to feed it from a tank. A small 10/4 header tank would do it if you have somewhere to put it.
