Condents.jpg Was just wondering if there is a paten pending on this condensate disposal system? only thought it was just limited to the domestic install, LOL.
Nice work Si, keep posting the pic's.

There's a pattern been granted on that.

The flues are on the list to get ripped out. For the time being its more water tight than taking them out

Very nice Simon, all up & working ?
I did notice the "new" patented condense collection device, being held in reserve at the back of the boiler next to the air separator, what was just in case the plastic pipe blocked? LOL.

What's the next project ? keep em coming.

All up and working now. Got a quieter month than last. But got a few projects in the pipeline for the future.

Hoping to get a few more plant rooms and then I want a complete install. Maybe a small office block or small school

I cant work out from the pictures what going on with the gauges? are they pressure? what else is tee'd into it?
Dont forget to paint your black fittings.

Ah, just spotted it on the wall, thought it was going into another pipe.
Not sure if you fitted the pumps, looks like the threaded bar is set into the concrete base? so they wouldnt be removable?

No. If a pump fails you would replace the head not the body IMO

That would be the sensible way:wink_smile:
I have never changed a head, its always a new pump which doesnt fit. Ends up needing positional flanges or stool pieces welded up.

A stool piece? Lol. Spell check is funny

I've not had that problem yet. I only fit Grundfos and they tend to look after the old pump bodies very well

I have replaced many heads and only 1 complete pump. But that wasn't a twin head

Added some more pics
They are 3x Strebel 500 boilers, 2x CT pump sets, 1xVT pump set with 3 port valve and Enwamatic.
You can see pictures of the header in the background on the last page:smug:

i was saying to someone about getting my commercial gas before years out and they said not worth it as only the bigger companies get the work.
been subbing a bit out of late and seems to me that its a better market than the domestic crap

Its near Weston super mare
I am self employed but work for my Dads company, who works for bigger companyies.
As a one man outfit I think you would be unlikley to get big boiler houses but I may be wrong.

I am just hanging the boilers and doing some welding.
Someone else will pipe them up as I am off to another job, I hopefully will get to come back and do the gas.

A school in Wales, if I remember correctly it just fed a the kitchen.

Overkill really, was only 2 sinks and a basin.

looked at this yesterday:
the boiler closest in the picture, need to be lifted as it has failed its annual insurance inspection, the cradle in which it sits has signs of corrosion and needs replacing. Everything needs disconnecting gas, water and elec.
Nice little job if I can get it😎

Hadn't been switched on in three years and needed new guts. Total waste of money.

I've done a bit of commercial in my time but that's a man's boiler !!

Certainly is. 60000 pound per hour steam boiler, saacke burners( urghhh), spoke to the guy doing the lift yesterday, he said boiler specs say boiler shell is 60ton empty!!!
Sooooo, how many plumbers does it take to lift it onto the wall bracket then ?? LOL

PS. the only thing that made much sense in the above is the 60 ton lift. (you better make sure it is completely drained) does the new one come in via roof or is it slid in?

Why ? You can't go making statements like that with out some background info, Howsie.

New build care home. Expensive install and doesn't play well with the boilers. The original installer has gone bust. One of them only clocked up nine hours of use, with the highest of 98 hours over three years.

Although it wouldn't be comfy, I reckon there's just about enough space to fit two blokes in the fuel chamber of that thing. Not that I got anyone in mind or anything.

This is a couple of chip boilers I was chatting to Scott about but couldn't figure out how to send the pic via messaging - sox to clog the thread chaps.

The green pipe is aquatherm. I haven't seen it with thick blue lines before. Different manufacturer?

The thick blue lines is the aqua therm, fibre pipe, and the green stuff is wefatherm fibre. Much the same though really. Ok in its place I guess, and I think there's a good case for its use, but I'm just not a big fan of the stuff really. My thoughts on using it:

It's not terribly rigid at temperature (loads of clips and unistrut),
can't offer fittings etc up before you fuse a joint so it's a bit different on measuring/checking etc, burning on a fitting can be a bit awkward in tight/awkward places (especially 90mm +),
persistently having to put a level on everything and square it up until fittings are cool,
Always seem to be holding a fitting waiting for it to cool,
pipe swarf seems to get everywhere,
the paddle burns like mad if you catch yourself on it.

but then...
it's light, pretty versatile (weld in saddles etc), surprisingly tough/resilient, can be quick, cool wall means it's pretty hard burn yourself of a hot pipe, not too bad to cut, and is pretty resistant to corrosion.

Just been using loads of carbon steel press fit lately though.

That boiler looks mint missplumb - the firematic? Could've sworn I saw one of those on the test bays in pinkafeld.

yeah, biofire 995, we got 2 of them in the process of being commissioned now, then theres a small ETA hack 200 to fit which will heat 3 greenhouses and 4 houses.

Sounds great. The firm I work for is fitting a few herz/system KURRI boilers these days, having previously mainly fitted HDG, and if I had to say I think the herz boilers are probably better made, and certainly better laid out/designed for working on. Job looks really nice though. What do they do for a boiler safety valve on the bio fire? Is it direct into the appliance or something? (couldn't see one before the valves in the pics)

IMG_148204992147181.jpgnice bit of asbestos ... apparently its ok as long as you don't scratch it.... funnily enough the health and safety bigwigs never seem to come down here....

i agree too but at the time I was working for Norland honestly the worst company i have ever worked for and didn't have much choice in the matter.

after i refused to do a 18 hr day after a 14hr day with a 6 hr rest between whilst on call too (none of this work was a call out) i was summoned down to luton for a meeting and mutually walked. even though their working policy states that engineers working on a mobile basis MUST NOT work and drive more than 12 hrs day.

I pointed this out and was told it was advisory... when i started laughing and said so your claiming MUST NOT is advisory i was asked to leave... haha

oh and just to add these boilers were in a school in bridlington i had 8 different schools there and about 40 boilers between them the majority of which were those MHS Strata 1's all giving out around 18k ppm of CO when i arrived, how those things ever got through testing i will never know...

you can spend hrs getting them burning correctly on both burners throughout the range, them come back a week later stick your fga probe in and they are way out of scope again.

I was on my own and had 3 wks to do them all including any remedials on boilers, pressurisation units etc....

welding.jpg A bit of welding today. 1 man point if you can guess the pipe size from the number of bolt holes

FAO Josh - here are a few pics of some installs we have done in larger residential buildings and commercial premises.DSCF6490.jpg

Like the laundry equipment. I hope there is and Andrews water heater and a room vented tumble-dryer in there too.
