Hi, I have at present an old honeywell analogue room thermostat that I think needs to be replaced, my question is do I have to change like for like or can i buy pretty much any room thermostat ?

The one I have now as 4 wires connected ( black, brown, grey and earth ) so my guessing is black - negative, brown - live , grey ?

Mu boiler is a Worcester Greenstar 25si

many thanks

Rob

if you've got 4 wires almost any will do if connected correctly but black is not negative nor is any of the others

Thank you for your reply quality, so my original is a Honeywell T6360B and my new one is a Drayton CombiStat 24028. installed on to the wall and wired up as per stated diagram for a standard combi boiler, however my wiring must be wrong as it blew the boiler's pcb 2.5A fuse, So at this time I have reinstalled the old one. Am I advised to replace with a new Honeywell T6360B knowing that the wiring diagram would be the same ?

Many thanks

Rob

With 4 wires connected to you existing T6306B the wire connected to terminal 2
will certainly be Neutral.

The wire connected to terminal 1 Should be Live and the wire connected to
terminal 3 should be Switched Live.

Earth I would expect to be connected to Earth terminal.
