100% yes of course it can not ideal fitting but when in a pickle

You can solder copper to brass, so yes you could solder into a brass compression fitting, But why? please tell!!

they done this back when i was at college.
you have a bay and will have to set out e.g a bathroom and pipework and you basically solder everything in sight. when the teacher pressure tests your bathroom. taaadaaah no leaks.

tip for any future a star students with no leaks

You little cheat!!! how do you sleep at night

Can just see the tutors trying to remove fittings at night hoping to reuse the next day !..no wonder courses are so expensive :freak:

Tutors stripping down!! they made use strip all the joints apart, one tutors was very hot on hand tight and 1/4 turn on compression in the hope that he could get 2 or 3 joint off 1 olive!! He wasn't so lucky with the farmer on our course that gorillaed every joint he touched!!

want to put tap in my shed,, got some free mdpe pipe,, and saw some 20mm to 1'2 tread conection fittings for 50p in b and q, so bought 1'2 tread to 15mm solder.. to connect em.. and then thought i could of used compression fitting as i had some in the shed,, instead of spending a £10 on those tread/solder connectors for the mdpe fittings.. then i thought to myself couldn't i just solder in to the compression fitting, not that i need to.. sounds a bit silly.. ha. not gona use the mdpe pipe now anyway as my dad come round earlier and told me not to, as its not going underground, only gona use it as i had it for free.. also found a plumbing merchants that is very reasonable so gona do it all in copper.. sounds a bit crazy but there is a method to my madness as i want to learn about plumbing, so just experimenting.. also excuse my grammer as im a bit worse for wear ha.

Bad boys 🙂

Our Tutor only left us once in the workshop at West Nott's tec, he returned to find we had made a modern art sculpture out of all the steel about 20 foot high all from the off cuts in the steel pipe bin. He was not impressed and made us take it down in our own break time.

One of my pet hates this when you go to change a valve with compression nuts i.e a stop tap. To find that the nuts have been soldered, by solder running down from the elbow thats about 2mm coming out the top !!
