What about LSX?
I used to use a wrap or two of PTFE tape over the olive, the logic being that it would squeeze into any imperfections. Nowadays I use fernox LSX.
It's held up so far even on the cooling system of an old Gardner diesel engine.

Don't tend to use anything. A bit of paste on the threads to lubricate not seal and the jobs a good un. By lubricating with a smear of paste you are tightening not overcoming friction so you get a much better seal and have a better feel for when the olive is right.

old thread I know, but with olives pull it up tight and 1/4 turn more alls well, works on diesel fuel line and brake lines without ptfe etc so why not water. leaking olives I have had to replace are normally either loose or torqed down tooo much!

whats wrong with fifteen million wraps of ptfe on the threads, not the cones mind
