Well it's been a mixed week for me. On Monday I was starting a full heating system for a lovely old girl of 84 who's never had central heating in her life. Just a gas fire in the lounge. She greeted me at the door with a cheery smile and made me a great cup of tea. I think she was a little worried about having the work done but was so happy and grateful to be getting a bit of extra warmth. I told her that unfortunately the hot water would be off for a couple of days whilst the work was completed but she wasn't fussed in the slightest. The kettle was never off and for three days I was peeing like a racehorse! All done and dusted on Wednesday and she was genuinely delighted to have a warm house and a warm bathroom for the first time ever. A nice £10 tip and a bag of doughnuts were my reward. Happy days!
Today I started a bbu for combi conversion. Knocked at 8am and get told I'm too early and have to wait till 8.30. Finally get in, youngish couple, 4 kids, place is absolutely disgusting, filth and mess in every room. Tell them that they'll be without heating and hot water over night, the guy went mental telling me they should be compensated for the inconvenience. I bite my tongue but decide at that point that they will also be without gas over night!
Both jobs were for the council but the difference in people is huge.

Hope you're all having a rewarding week.

Been average for me, sent to take one sani out and fit a new one after the "plumber" (sorry guys) told her it was beyond repair but left her happy after I`d pulled out the plastic rim fresh that had fallen in and told her it was good for a few more years yet. Then you get the landlord that rings the office and complains that the flat is full of bad smells after a full strip down and repair that took an hour.

on your own Adam, or with a labourer?

I've done an easy ish floor stander out and combi in. A few breakdowns and half a dozen services. Nice easy day tomorrow (I hope). In readiness for my weekly Guinness evening out.

Well my week has consisted of sitting on the sofa watching day time tv all week, and last week,

and and the week before that 🙁

Had an operation on my knee as I had snapped my acl ligament, damaged another ligament and had to have the cartilage repaired aswell. Not going to be back at work until the 2nd February.

better yet I'm self employed so don't get paid for it 🙂

Bugger! Get well soon buddy.

Mi couldn't do that in a week on my own! Which legs bad?

Its all price work mate so I just get my arse in gear and get on with it. Always easier when there's not too much furniture.
and it's my right leg, the mrs has been kicking me at night again!

Keep doing those excercises even though they are painful.

Adam , truthfully I am astounded at this, has it just got one rad, surface mounted speedfit and a combi, in a house with no carpets and furniture ????

8 rads and baxi duotec combi. Boiler in airing cupboard, so hot and cold already there, gas directly below. 4 rads downstairs on two drops, 4 rads upstairs all under the floor. Downstairs rads take about 4.5 hours tops, hour per room upstairs and the rest on the boiler. No speedfit! Quite impressed with the baxi, not bad to install.

Today has been relight a biomass, two reported gas leaks, service two pressurisation units and a school portacabin with no heat, total mileage 150 miles...........

Arn't most of them now, did one a few weeks since , even tiles were so hard that I spent £70 on diamond bits and this was only for 8mm holes ! Tiler even said he'd never come across tiles so hard and then just when I thought I'd finished, customer turned up with a toilet roll holder, soap dish and mirror and said can you just put these up as well.

( sorry this was in response to townfanjohn but lost the quote)

had a phone call last week asking would i come out and do some plumbing work ,
they gave no indication they were a builder so when i turned up this morning i notice a new build house going on and a guy stood outside the front,

he flags me down and asks if I'm the plumber
i then asked if he is a builder which he replies yes

i just say adios turn around and drive off leaving him with no plumber and stood in the rain

it felt real good

Customers don't just rob themselves you know! Us merchants have to work hard to cock up orders, damage casings, crack sanitaryware, and all the other things you love us for. 🙂

Im just there for the free coffee ray, nothing else matters.

I feel dirty and ashamed but today I've been working on Worcestershire exclusively Isar to cdi compact - how squashed in? Love the drop down exp . Be easy to change and the prv temporary lug nice idea. Liked the way wiring center was set up better than usual. But please no repairs on that boiler ever! Then greenstar 30si. New prv, new pressure gauge and flow turbine. Strip the kebab too.

Then a replacement flue on a classic heat only, service and general overhaul.

Oh please let tomorrow be filled with Baxi!
