Just had a nightmare of a job start to bloody finish, and Im not even finished yet..
Baxi bermuda swap for a Baxi Bermuda 15HE, you would think that they would fit in a standard builders opening? Yeah, they would if the local council hadn't decided in their ultimate wisdom to brick up two sides and lower the lintel, so now the opening is 460 x480. I discovered this a little too late as I had removed the back boiler and the homeowner had already started stripping it for scrap!
Never mind, the bit I was dreading was actually quite easy, removing the old liner and dropping down the new concentric plastic flue. Getting it connected to the boiler itself was a pain in the proverbial but after hacking away I managed to make a bit of space and get it all connected. Had to plumb it in from the right hand side (the new BBU is left hand side) making it even tighter.
Anyway all connected and filled, gas connection done, soak away dug, condensate pump pipework done(10mm pipe? c'mon Baxi How are we supposed to connect it to a waste? without it looking like a christmas tree?). Fit the hearth in place, fit the surround and get ready to fit the fire front...
The bloody fire front... a Valor nano dimension in brass?.. my mates down at the merchants ordered it in special for me, and it was special alright, no boiler control pad as it was the electric fire model, not the fire front for use with a BBU.
So now my customer has no heating or hot water as apparently the BBU does not work without the boiler control panel?. Whats worse is that I cant find a Brass version of the nano dimension fire front... I'm looking froward to handing back the electric fire tomorrow morning.. pass the flux please!...
Roll on next week...

i thought the HE BBu all had electric fire fronts, or am i not reading your post properly

They do Kirk but they supplied a stand alone electric fire as opposed to the fire front to be used with the BBU. I didn't even realise there was a difference until I went to fit the boiler control, there isn't one with the standalone fire. The fire front is also about £130 more expensive.

you have my sympathies mate it always seems when it goes wrong it goes wrong big time still it will be a distant memory in a month and youll not make that mistake again
