Delay in hot water

do I need a new one? or can I just hit it with a wrench??

If your going to hit it I always find a club hammer works best, if it were me, I'd just replace it. That way job done, go back to the TV and watch deal or no deal..... or maybe thats just me...........

knowing my luck, there would be water all over the kitchen floor not long after - or I'd crack the sink, So i think a new valve (soonish) will be the best option! 🙂

Of course, if your mixer is of the very common bi-flow type (with separate waterways for the H and C) you don't need any checkvalves at all.

We must have the other type as we only added the check valve when the header wouldn't stop overflowing! (following advise from a site like this one)
