I've just been asked to go and look at a flue that exits under a retractable awning, and provide a safety certificate so I'm wondering, as I've not had this kind of call before, what the regs are - or where I might find the particular one for this?
What certificate would I provide?
They haven't fitted the awning yet but the manufacturer of the awning won't start until they get a certificate, which I think is a good thing.
I'm going to have a look on Saturday morning so any pointers/help would be appreciated 🙂

Is the awning a full enclosure or just a canopy. And what type of building ?

If its a canopy im thinking distances from terminal to combustible materials.

Obvioisly a full enclosure type would be a deffo nono

I would imagine it's the same as a car port when out?
How can you can you give a certificate on something that's not yet fitted? Two visits?

They want a certificate for the flue position in relation to the canopy, as its marked on the wall, although
I haven't been to site yet so I can't really tell what markings are there at the moment.
I only took the call just before posting this, and I was thinking the same re the distance from combustibles, but what about when it's extended? I think that it's going to come under the same regs as a car port, and it's definitely not an enclosed one, apparently it's just for use as a sun shade.
Do "I just issue a gas safety cert and make it clear that it's for the flue and termination regarding the awning, or is there a specific certificate for use in this kind of situation?

Id calculate distances only when extended and ensure it has at least 2 open sides to direct outside air..
For precaution. Id calculate the clearences from the lowest extended point along the lines of the TB for ginells (if its got side skirts) so the lowest point along the horizontal plane is X'mm higher than the terminal OR combustible clearences - and go with the bigger clearence.

call GS helpline but i suspect they will refer you to MI. Theres nowt in the BS i can see but if its skirted and the flue is adjacent to a window etc id make sure it doesnt drop down over any openable windows.

There is reference to something like like in the LPG cops to do with catering vehicles lol

I don't understand why they want a certificate for something that isn't there? You can't issue a certificate to say something will be safe without seeing installed. Are you sure they don't mean that they want a GSR to check if it will be safe etc to install over a flue?

Just wondering, is this on a caravan, leisure vehicle or mobile catering vehicle? What type of appliance is fitted to the flue?
Lots of unknowns 🙂

Yep - I think that's what they do mean, but not what was asked of me.
I'll update after the site visit.
Btw - it's a permanent brick built dwelling
