last time I re did my gas I was told any flue should be fitted 300mm from and building fabric opening wehter it be an openable window or fixed frame etc but regs and gas books say 150mm from non opening window - called gas safe and they said if its a non opening window its ok can be closer if it does not weaken building fabric - I can see 300mm would be ideal incase a window fitted changed window but they said that's not my problem.what are other views on this

if you can get the 300mm from a fixed window well and good, but its in the definition "opening"
what possibly could happen in the future??
someone builds an extension/conservatory on the flue wall and leave the flue in situ??

It can make a installation more flexible, sometimes needs to be done cost wise based on fitting the boiler somewhere else.

if its a fixed window then its fine, if a window fitter comes and changes the window they have broken the regs, not you. the 150mm measurement is a building reg, as the first 150mm is important for the structual strength of the wall.

managed to get 220 from non opening fixed window always managed to get 300mm in the past but this one was impossible

fitter in the hotel in cornwall went down from memory when the owner unscrewed the sealed window and someone perished, so define non opening!!!!!!!!!!, best to keep all flues 300mm clear of any opening at all

There was clarification on non opening a while ago. Screwing a window shut is not good enough. You could convert an opening window to non opening by removing the hinges, handle etc. and screwing and glueing the window back into the opening.

Easiest method with a modern boiler is to use a plume kit though.
