Question for Gas Safe engineers out there

Me and my company isn't gas safe registered yet but I'm wanting to advertise that the company is registered

I have a friend who is registered and after a meeting he is happy to take on any work I get that requires the registration would I be breaking any laws or regulations by doing this??

I WILL NOT carry out any work to do with gas or that, that I'm not qualified to do, Ijust thought if i add the badge to my media I would boost my customer base allowing me to maybe get more work from it

But of course I don't want to be doing anything illegal your thoughts???

It's false advertising no matter how well intentioned.

Not only that gas safe will take a dim view.

Wait until you're registered.

But you could say gsr coming soonish......

The work would be done by a qualified Gas Safe engineer thou and signed off by that person

Nah croppie I'd rather not I just thought if a customer was looking thru phone book and need some gas work done then rang me I could say yes I can send someone out to see you, I've already had a phone call asking if I service boilers it broke my heart telling um I'm not gas safe

The only legal way of doing it is to register your company with gas safe with your friend as the registered engineer.

Defo dont advertise until registered as not worth the grief and it would be a lie, and it wont look good to potential clients who type your company into gassafe website and find your not there , thats an instant NO WORK FROM THEM, just do it right and by the book then its happy days and good luck MO,,

False advertising. Any ''customer'' who is clued up will check the Gas Safe register prior to your mate attending only to find out that your company is not in there?
As MJ has mentioned, either get the friend to give you authority to register him under your company (as an example, Mrs Tara Plumb is not Gas Safe but her company is due to her husband or other staff being Gas Safe), or if customers ring and ask about gas work, tell them you do not do gas work but can give them the tel no of a reliable friend who does gas.

Just out of interest, beware that if you register your friend to do gas work under your company name, a well worded contract may be essential. Failing that, he may do gas work ''privately'' and pass it on as having been done by your company. If there is a dispute, your company may be liable. Just a thought for you to bear in mind

you have to employ a gsr to register with gas safe or you need to be qualified...simple as!.
