P J F PLUMBING

Hi guys I'm not having a good time of late. Got a woman complain then gas safe inspected found 9 NSC faults I had flux left on pipe pro not discharging to ground I use two 90 s back to the wall any ways nothing at all unsafe they came and did an inspection in me all ok. Got home today a letter from gas safe we will be doing an inspection on one of your jobs Just called the customer they said the boiler stopped working so we called worcester out they said it was sledged sorted it out and went. So they called another customer plumber out and he said to call gas safe out. Anyway the customer says they found 16 NSC faults they picked me up on prv not discharging to ground the gas pipe work goes from 22 to 15 mm to 22 the section of 15 goes though the wall less than a foot but I joined onto it they said the boiler is running at 18 mbr Anyways they have left the boiler on no warnings ect but I'm going to be getting the report next week the customer wants to get this other plumber to sort and bill me. My question am I that bad ???? Please help as I'm really down been kicked twice in two months im doubting myself and lost my confidence will gas safe be watching me ??? Really worried

Do they meet with you then informal like I've had a new guy and never met him my old inspector I used to call for advice ect just really down

Blimey, that is a tough time. I always use an elbow and a 45 for blow off. Also, 18mb inlet is fine if you have 19 at the meter with other appliances connected. I was inspected a month ago with this and all was ok.

Just correct your faults and read your books a bit to build your confidence up

You pay their wages

You've had two inspections. I think it's only fair that they meet with you

Pm gassafepr and they may answer you

I would think it would be very poor of gas safe not to meet you

18 mbr running I haven't had the report though yet but customer said the faults will be sorted by this other plumber I feel like I'm being picked up on jiggly things ???

image.jpgI had to leave the old boiler in place as they refused to pay an asbestos company to remove it

looks tidy enough, just clip the cable next time, talk to inspector as stated, remember, all they do to illegals is get them to sign up to gas safe, not even rosecute them at first, so they cant be to harsh on you esp if you want to take advice and rectify your issues. re the custard they should let you have the opportunity to make good any issues foc, if they refuse, then imho why should you pay for someone else to put right work that gas safe will inspect and pass if ok!

I was tought that the flamenco had asbestos in so I get a company to remove it but they didn't wat to pay so it was disconnected perminataly and left in place About the cable it was in to a extension lead for testing there spark was connecting it. The 22 to 15 back to 22 was 8 inches though the wall to out side it is 22 mm from the meter not that far the 15 mm though wall then 5 foot over to boiler this was 15 mm all the way but i changed it to 22 mm I reused the 8 inches though the wall but connected both sides lasy I no regret now but the boiler is running 18 mbr in service mode have I really done a bad job ??

I wouldn't worry about it. Wait until you get the report and see what it says. Never believe anything a customer says especially an unhappy one.
Btw tell her if she goes ahead and gets anything done before you have had the report and had a chance to rectify it she is on her own and you won't be paying anything.

The netaheat (flamenco) has an asbestos rope gasket on the flue hood.
You need to take the hood off to get the flue apart so you wil disturb it. You don't need to be licenced to do this but you have to dispose of it properly. Whether you would want to do it is another matter.

I always take out old boilers but use a company to remove any which contain aspestos depends on the price who pays The boiler was fitted a year ago next week

I know that the hse make a big deal out of asbestos, but really, how bad is a little exposure once in a while? Isn't it just the people who worked with it all the time the people who are suffering? Like in the mines, and old flue and drain pipes and so on. And, is most of the asbestos on boilers white asbestos? Because a lot of countries are still using this kind?

It takes only one particle of asbestos that becomes lodged in your lungs to develop as a malignant tumour.......so I'm told!
