Hi guys,

any reason why the front casing on a glowworm ultimate Would get too hot?

i serviced this boiler a found everything to be ok but one it was back together and heating up, the front case feels a little too hot for my liking. It's not 'ouch yer f*ucker' but it defo hot

by the way, there's no signs of distress anywhere on the casing. The paint is fine and not discoloured

They do get warm... however if you suspect an issue check out the burner chamber insulation, especially on the front cover that you remove to access the burner. They can also 'warp', curve inward, towards the burner causing them to 'touch' the burner flame and get excessively hot transferring that heat to the inner case chamber!

patially blocked hex can also allow the burner chamber to get excessivly hot as can anything effecting the flue flow through the appliance 🙂

Is it balanced flue or fan flued? I went to a balanced once and I only looked at the cylinder stat, but the outer case got very warm on that too. The fan flued don't seem to.

Must have serviced hundreds. They do get very hot. That is why they require compartment ventilation.
If all ok during service I would not worry about it.
