Wow.... way to place an issolator between the system and the expansion and pressure release its not even a lock shield gate valve. Cant wait till the home owner confuses it for part of the filling loop and shuts it.

Booooooooooooom :001_9898: SV on boiler will take over until pressure drop below cut off set point

I think Tamz once said GSR doesn't make you a good engineer, this might have been the GSRs lad who did this,
some excuse.

It's a heat only so no safety valve on boiler. Shut valve and pressure goes up until something gives way. Cue water at 80 degrees spraying across the room.

Mike,

Are you saying that if its heat only boiler the chaps out there are relying on a SV which could be metres away from the heat source, what as
the world come to.

It was defo a plumbing contractor for Barratt Homes… Competent or not, experienced or not, GSR or not, crash course GSR, a plumber, an apprentice, one of a rated people or checkatrade, a cowboy, a clown, a monkey or just some geezer with a van and tools.

I've had a few like that. One the kitchen was so greasy that I put disposable coveralls on to work and chucked them in the customers dustbin when I left. Job was supposed to be a two day job but I got it done in a day so i wouldn't have to go back. Another the bathroom floor was covered in dried cat poos. On with the disposables and swept it into a pile in the corner. Used the cardboard from the boiler to kneel down on.

The only items I would need for that kind of job are a can of petrol some matches and a fast van.
Perhaps I should list it as a cleansing by fire service.

Cylinder change I did today.

The electrics had been bodged together and the 15mm vent pipe terminated above the tank lid so there was a lovely puddle on top of the tank.

A chap called me earlier in a panic. He'd had a go at repairing the ball valve in the CWS tank bless him. He couldn't work out why the water was worse since he fixed it....

That will teach him, always take a iPhone and take a photo before and then you can put it all back they way it was, basics, even a decorator would know that.
