Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has come across the same problem I'm having with one of my customers boilers.

I've carried out several repairs on it in the past but this one has me stumped. I have no power at all to the fan on CH or DHW mode.

The pump runs, but thats it. Carried out basic checks and everything was as it should be.

The fault finding guide in the manual is fairly useless, and suggests a possible problem with the pump over run stat. But it does not tell you how to test it and simply states 'check wiring'.

It was 7pm so not able to ring Halstead tech for any info.

Has anyone else encountered the same problem on this boiler?

Cheers

does this have a pump flow switch? if it does check that when the pump is running and the switch is making if not do manually then should start fan, aps, gas, ignition 🙄 then replace diaphragham

On the DHW side, the microswitch is being made from the div valve ok, so I dont think it's a diaphram issue. And Obviously until the fan starts that is not gonna activate the aps to get to the ignition stage.

All I have is a running pump, to me it seems like poss PCB or an issue with the pump over run stat which I have never changed or tested before which is why i was hoping someone on here may have come across similar symptoms.

Cheers

Ye but alot of chb's have 'pump' flow switches operated by a diaphragm.

Ie generally speaking

boilers with diverter valves have a pump flow switch&diaphragm and a dhw flow switch&diaphragm

the pump dia is common to both heating and hot water, in heating mode it's only the pump dia that operates whereas in hw mode both pump dia and hw dia operates.

I'd be having a good look for this pump dia as the pcb will be expensive and I'd go out on a limb here(having not seen it myself) and say it'll defo be the pump dia and not the board matey

Hope that's helpful

I Have the same problem on my quattro gold and I doubt it is the diaphragm as this only operates on the hot water side
mine is itermittent it usauly fires up from cold but once it reaches temp it will not re-fire but the pump runs ,I have replaced the pump overun stat and checked the wiring which is ok ,still no joy
so Im thinking pcb ? if I twist or move the bottom cover where the pcb is located 9times out of 10 it fires up ? did you solve yours last year ? maybe a loose conection which I will check .

old thread I know but it may be helpful to someone in the future.

The Halstead Quattro Gold is cunningly designed so that any water leakage from the boiler anywhere will end up dripping on the PCB board.

I would remove the pcb board and with a bright lamp and magnifying glass make a thorough inspection of the board tracks , componants and solder connections for any evidence of water residue, overheated components and poor solder joints etc.

Check all the wiring connector sockets and plugs for poor connections or high resistance burn marks.

I always put my control panel tray back with a thin panel of plastic covering above to prevent any possible water ingress .

cling film is always good to help protect pcb fro that dreaded leak, sometimes looks alittle unsightly but does the job ,customer never really see"s it anyway
hope thats of help

yes clingfilm could be used but it only last a very short while due to the adjacent heat from the boiler and kettles and toasters ect.
I find a thin sheet of plastic is a permenant solution .Saying that, my system pressure has just shot up to 6Bar and some water has leaked onto the pcb somehow grrrr😡😡
