Hello and good day,

I'm need of some help and hopefully someone can resolve this.

I have an Ariston Classico STD 150 immersion heater ( one stickers shows WRc-NSF ), There is no pressure gauge on the system that I can find so I cannot see the pressure it's running at.
The issue I have is I have no good pressure around the house. Eg: If I run the taps downs stares I cannot get anything up stares or when the washer is on filling the sinks are impossible at times so as you can imagine a shower is impossible when something else is in use.

Another thing I found is the bath will be hot when running for 5 mins then it goes cold. When I bought the house the last person left stickers on what seems like the on / off switch / timers, One of these says leave ON which is the top thermostat and the bottom says use for a boost only.

Is there anything I can try ? If there is it would be highly appreciated if you can help me but please note I'm no expert so may need some dummy talk, I have attached a picture so you have a better view of what I got. I hope I explained things well.

Thanks in advance.

Gary

Hi Gary, check you've got your mains stop tap open fully.
Apart from that you're going to need a g3 qualified plumber to sort it for you- not really anything you can do your self.

Thanks for the reply,

I did phone the water board and they came down and done a check in which they said it was fine with good pressure, The neighbours on either end of me have triple the flow I have.

what your dealing with is a potential bomb, hence why only qualified heating technicians or pumbers are allowed to work on them, If your ask to see their gas safe register card then they should have an unvented ticket shown or is they are plumbers they should be able to produce a card showing they are able to work on your cylinder with a G3/unvented ticket.

to use your immersions the lower one should be for offpeak elec overnight so leave it on all the time and it will heat up overnight, the top one is to boost up your water during the day when you have run out or know your about to have a bath, do not leave it on constantly. get a qualified person to check it all out to see it is set up correctly, yours may not be!

Guys I appreciate your comments.

Its my first house and I never dealt with this or timers and such, I have attached a picture on what the last person left, Not long moved in but this is how it is, I not touched anything.

Any suggestions ?

Regards,

Gary.

I would personally get someone in with g3 (unvented) in to investigate that issue and also to check that the plastic piping has inserts inside. Thats a very poor install and i can only see it as diy standard. Quite alarming as you do need a qualification (g3) to install.

Do you have any paper work to go with it?

I don't have any paperwork for it, I does look messy and I have no idea on how it works. So it's not a normal plumber I need then ?

I would assume by the comments I would have to Google a G3 plumber in my area, And going by a few of your comments "DIY" I guess I should consider getting a new install ?

Kind Regards,

Gary

lets stop scaring him too much, its a potential bomb if things go wrong but nought there to suggest its that bad, just needs tidying up and some extras added, first being a tundish and a bit of pipe work upgrade.

A g3 plumber is one who's qualified to work on unvented systems, he'll be able to advise you best on what's wron and what needs doing to sort it out

Thanks for your replies.

Now you got me worried ! Ha, so some say the times must be not be constantly on, Is this right ?

Any suggestions and without sounding thick how do you set them ! lol

Regards.

Gary

Thank you Lame Plumer

And thanks to all the other comment's, I will get someone to look into it asap.

Regards.

Gary.

Gary,

Please go to Gas Safe Register | Ensure your gas engineer is registered. or post a thread in the 'I'm looking for a plumber / gas engineer' section of these forums remembering to include your location. [DLMURL="http://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/im-looking-plumber-gas-engineer/"]I'm looking for a Plumber or Gas Engineer[/DLMURL]

I'd recommend the latter because anyone on here not doing a good job would get found out and torn to pieces!
