Hi all

Not sure if this is for a plumbing or building forum, but thought i'd try here first.

In my bathroom, the WC is one of those old school ones where the waste goes down into the clay fitting on the floor. However, on removing my bath panel, it looks like someone has moved it from a previous location as there is a similar old fitting in the floor under the bath.

It looks like when they moved the WC, they didn't cap / cover the original floor waste outlet in the floor. I now hear that tell-tale scratching sound behind the bath panel that tells me rats are obviously coming in!

It looks like whoever has done this has attempted to remove the old clay outlet as it's - very badly. It's all chipped and uneven.

What's the best way for me to be able to block this and ideally get it down to the floor level so that I can tile over when i re-do the bathroom shortly? Does this pipe go directly into the sewer pipe?

Or as i say, is this really a builders question?

Thanks for any help you can all provide.

no we can handle this for you. firstly get some scrunched up newspaper to put down the soil to block it and catch any bits of pipe as you break it off level with the floor.leave the bits in the hole to act as hardcore/rubble, mix up some concrete and fill the hole that is left and level it off. job done.
