Hi All,


I have been working on a problem on an Ideal classic lxff270. Basically the boiler fires up and runs for just over a minute, cools down for approx 3 &1/2 minutes then fires up again. The sequence seems fine for the boiler to fire up but with my limited knowledge on these i am thinking it is something temperature related.
I have ordered and received a new temp thermostat temp harness for this boiler.
When i checked the old one i unscrewed the little plate and it was just full of scale. When i clean this out little bits of the out rubber cover were coming off as well. This led me to think the 1 minute on 3 minutes of was due to temp sensor? Any way from the MI this lead should come out, new one in and reconnect to the board. Easy! No chance. The old sensor is not for moving. I have gently prodded around this but it is not for coming out. Before i just go for brute force has anyone else had a similar problem and if so what was the solution? Image attached of the sensor.
What i also tried was disconnecting this from the board. The boiler ran for 3 minutes then tripped out. So i think i am on the right lines?


I also have a spare air pressure switch but don't want to use this incase i have found the problem.

well to be fair mate this isn't something the mods like being spoken about in the open forum, you need to up your posts and request to join the GSR only forum and we will all help you, apart from that fella not much more I can say at the monent

hi kevin as already said get your post count up to 10, or more if you want we're not picky. then send a pm to either gas man or redsaw with your gs details etc., then after a short trade test to prove you know what you know you will be admitted to the private gas section where you will be able to discuss your problem out of the public's gaze. this is purely to prevent non qualified peeps from getting information they shouldn't have and attempting repairs with disasterous consequences.

Thanks steveb. Sorry just getting my head round how the forum is working. Yes i do understand youwouldn't want good advice being shown to everybody out there.
