Serviced my 1st Ideal Classic today, noticed there wasn't any cover on the FGA sample point, called Ideal and they said there should be a rubber cap on it, but they didn't seem to stress it was a danger. The property is getting renovated so is empty, I've ordered a kit with the rubber cap in it and will fit it before the boiler is in use.

Then my partner was repairing a fan on a Classic, and there wasn't one on his either! Is it the norm for these to be missing, or are we just following some bad engineers?

Sorry, didn't mean to sound defensive. Wasn't having a go! Just don't understand the relevance of the comment, the boiler still has an fga test point even though its an se boiler

Think it's probably because you mentioned that the fga cap was rubber which wouldn't stand up to the temperature of the flue gasses of a standard efficiency boiler.

Serviced a classic today, it had a white rubber type grommet on the point...

As said before I expect it would put a small amount of combustion gasses into the room if it was missing!?

I did hold my FGA probe above the point when the boiler was on, didn't pick anything up though. Funny we had two the same, ordered two kits (Ideal 171505) Will get them sorted soon
