I have an Ideal Icos HE24 fitted by George Wimpey in 2005. There is an electric programmer (for CH and HW) in the airing cupboard and an electric Honeywell thermostat in the hall.

The problem is that since yesterday we have no heating. Hot water seems fine (although I'm not sure if the boiler supplies this or the water heater also in the airing cupboard).

I've tried overriding both the programmer (setting HW to Cont) and the thermostat (increasing to max i.e. 30 degrees_. Still no joy. I hear the thermostat click at around 10-12 degrees which is about right for the house temperature.

I've tried turning the boiler off and on again and also pressing the reset button but the status shows "3" briefly then "0" which I think is standby (no CH demand). The "burner" led is out/off at all times - no flicker when turning off or on again).

I've also tried setting the lever on the pump(?) (Honeywell black box) in the airing cupboard from Auto to Manual but still no CH and no boiler display change, as suggested on another post.

Please can anyone suggest what to try next (British Gas coming tomorrow but have been threatened it may cost up to £399!!!)

I'd suggest not to call BG. Call a local recommended plumber instead. Should take no more that 15 mins to diagnose.

You need a gsr in to look at your boiler. We cannot and will not give advice on the installation or repair of boilers for your own safety.

Please go to Gas Safe Register | Ensure your gas engineer is registered. or post a thread in the 'I'm looking for a plumber / gas engineer' section of these forums remembering to include your location. [DLMURL="http://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/im-looking-plumber-gas-engineer/"]I'm looking for a Plumber or Gas Engineer[/DLMURL]

If you are gsr please increase your post count to 10+ then send a pm to either Gas man or Redsaw who will then check you and then give you access to the gsr private forum.

Thank you.
