had to leave a customer with no heat or hot water today as it was too late to get parts and ideal help desk had closed anyway.
boiler is going to ignition lockout and i thought i traced it to the pcb as it was sending out 124v down both wires to the gas valve, i went and got a new pcb but the new one is doing exactly the same!!! any ideas?
pump and fan both get 240v and run no problem, sparking at probes and 21mb at the gas valve inlet

If you're getting everything but gas I'd suspect the gas valve shaunsinky 🙂 Have you tested the resistance through the coils? No idea what they should be but there should be some 🙂

cheers DG, never tested the coil as i was almost positive it was the pcb, and just like yourself wasnt sure what to expect. surely i should of been getting 240v going to the valve not 124? ill ring ideal in the morning anyway but was hoping someone had this problem before.

I think they have 2 pcb? And the gas valve is connected to both. They have great fault finding as well.

I once got threw by a gas valve on a halstead ... I was checking for AC and the valve was DC ... It gave a similar strange reading as you mention, so I thought the PCB was at fault when actually it was me not reading the fault finding correctly!! That cost me.....!!! 🙂

Checking the mi's of the Mini however, it's an AC valve 🙂

spoke to a very very nice man at ideal today, turns out if the oh stat goes faulty that can show the same fault code (flashing green lights, and static red). replaced oh stat and away it went. thanks for everybodys help and suggestions
