ILFE gas fires help please!

Hi all,
Haven't posted many times but I need to check myself on this!
I'm studying towards my gas quals, so any pearls of wisdom greatly excepted!
my question is regarding gas fires,
I understand I can carry out my wp @ meter check for a gas fire, no probs there! then i should check the wp @ the appliance, so I know at the appliance test point i should have no more than 1 mbar drop, on an installation. my question is if there is only one test point and I get the correct reading there, how do I obtain the burner pressure reading, because i know although i may have (eg) 20 mbar at this point if this was going through the burner it would surely be over gassed!? and therefore potentially dangerous.

Is it the case that with only one test point on the inlet pipework, the burner is factory set so it just needs gas rating to check its ok?
or
Am I missing the all important p2 test point??
Ive looked at some mis that are on the net but they seem to refer to just one test point!

Hi Dan,
Gas rating is the important thing here.
The MI's will tell you everything you need to check whilst servicing, refer to the data badge on the appliance and always gas rate it to ensure that it is burning the correct amount of gas.
I wouldn't get hung up on checking burner pressures unless it states you must.

:iagree: it depends on the fire Dan83. Some have test points on the inlet before the gas valve others after the gas valve to the burner. MI's should tell you what to expect and a gas rate checked against recommendations will tell you whether it is ok or not 🙂
