Robert Tyrrell

I aksked a question about notifying them regarding a replacement UVDHWC and this was the response I received today.
I explained that I have the qualification but that I'm only registered with GS for gas etc, and not the G3. [They] appear to be of the opinion that I don't have to register with GS for this, just be registered with them ( Doesn't appear to matter for what) and as long as I have a G3 qualification, which I do have, I'm ok.

Hello Robert .

If you are Gas safe registered and hold the qualification for unvented installations you do not have to register with Building control as Gas safe will under the competent persons scheme when you have completed the installation.

Regards

All unvented cylinders need to be notified to the local Building Control and this can be done in a number of ways,
Directly to the local building control (after payment of a huge fee)
Through a competent person scheme as run by Gas Safe, IPHE or APHE. All these organisations will need to see your G3 qualifications before they will allow you to notify. When you notify them, within thirty days, of an installation they will in turn inform the local council and issue a certificate to the customer

I notify through Gas Safe (about £2.50) as I have my G3 qualifications registered with them

At least that's the situation as I understand it!!

Yep, that's what I thought as well, its just that the local BC don't appear to think that you need to register your qualification with GS, as long as you have it 🙂
Do GS charge for registering the extra qualification with them?
