My friend completed a fast track course a few years back and she has been working with a plumber since gaining experience.

But she now wants to get the NVQ which I believe requires some on-site visits from an assessor.

Do you have to pay a private company to do this? She said she saw one company offering to do it for £2k. Does that sound roughly right?

I'm not clued up at all on this one I'm afraid.

Any advice/tips on latest/current situation with this stuff would be appreciated.

Thanks

I had the 6129, I received a letter through from jtl asking if I wanted to gain the full nvq. I can't remember how much I paid, it was less than 2k though.

I had 6 assessor visits, first one was just about explaining what's going to happen, getting paperwork, nvq folder etc. As I was on a job at the time he took some photos and ticked some evidence off.

Didn't have to do the whole nvq amount of evidence just what wasn't covered in the 6129.

Assessor was a good lad, I'd say only mid 20s. Very helpful, told me exactly what evidence and photos he needed for the next visit to get the folder completed. Was as easy as colour by numbers.

In sure it was a good little money earner for them, got me the certificate I needed. Would have struggled to get a job without it.

This was 2-3 years ago.

I'd recommend going to JTL to see if they are still doing it or if they have a similar scheme going.
