Evening chaps, just been asked to swap a combi where the cust has already bought the boiler. Have not seen the job and as its quite far away I gave him a rough price of £500 I would supply pipe and fittings and a flush and inhibitor. Told him that if anything extra required e.g. gas supply upgrade, relocation or really dirty system then would be more. I don't like doing jobs that I'm not supplying materials on, done it before and its just a headache.
Like I say only gave a rough price over phone as It is quiet far from me and didn't want to waste anybody's time. Was told I was far too expensive

What do you lot think?

I wonder how much he was planning to pay I usually go for materials plus £600 on a combi swap

I wouldn't be doing it for less, too many people think boilers are fitted on a day rate!!

£500 + materials. Possibly more as you know they won't have everything and will take you longer to fit.

Thanks. I thought I was about right. Cust did use the term "throw in" a new boiler.

Like I say I usually supply all materials and don't like working where cuts supplies boiler. So wasn't too sure about how to price.

I reckon you were too cheap. Pay peanuts...

customer buying his own boiler is a warning sign, he'll be expecting you to provide a warranty on his stuff as well
£500 is reasonable, he's obviously a cheapskate, leave well alone
