On occasions i get inquiries for lead welding, these come from all over the UK. Although that what i do, traveling the UK does not appeal any more.. But i would like to create a list of people who can and wish to do the welding job. If you fit the bill? Please post me your details. (Jobs would be direct to the client. No commission required) Any question please ask.

Lead work was something I hated at college , but a skill I'd love to have but I never did any at my work and I think with lead you have got to do it alot to get good at it.

I've worked with everything up to code 10 and cast lead and welded/lead burned just about everything, including T pren joints and all types of ornamental work. The company I worked for are one of the most respected in the lead and copper roofing industry and I worked on Grade A listed buildings with them.
I'm in Bonnie Scotland so don't know if that's of help to you though!

Why Lead work? The transition from plumbing and heating to lead work was a conscience move. As a plumbing/heating contractor i earned a fortune but it never appeared in the bank. That last payment always relied on the testing/commissioning of the system. Which needed water, gas and electric supplies to be present. As a result my payment was the last the over budget client had to make. An array of hard luck stories and post dated cheques wears you down over the years. When punters build they always think there doing well when the roof goes on, having only spent 40% of budget. Which means they are less cost conscience and can't pay quick enough. Coupled with the ability to produce weathering in a workshop/garage at any time during the 24 hour period. Allowing a bit of leisure during day light hours. And no plastic involved. Food for thought. As i am sure i was not the only one who's experiened these frustrations?

Lead and steel. Based round York, N Yorkshire. I'm OK doing repairs but can't handle really heavy small jobs such as large lead bays due to back problems (but if its a big enough job I can get a gopher to do the manhandling and lifting).

Lead burning in ***bria !I have done lots of lead work in and around the area .so if you want to give me a call feel free [A sharp shave hook and a steady hand i think that,s the secret ha ]

call me anytime as i find leadwork a welcome change to installing boilers. in fact i tend to drop other commitments to take a quality leadwork job on. get a lot of satisfaction producing what not many can do. i dont consider luck to be any part of leadwork other than being lucky with the weather. i would consider travelling anywhere for a chance to put my skill and experience with leadwork to use on contracts lasting more than a few days. mark tomlinson 07970035814 visit my own site for pictures of quality work done by myself recently. im sure you will find it by searching for leadwork bolton gas registered plumber. one bit of advise i would pass on to the younger lads learning the art of good leadwork (not that i am old at 43 lol) would be what i was told as a apprentice. allways treat lead as you would a woman lots of care and attention, patience when it doesnt seem be doing what you want and only hit it where and when is actually necessary finally make sure it dressed properly. for the order of installation treat it like a man getting dressed, start with the boots and finish with the hat or in other words start from the bottom and work your way upwards as you put on each layertill dressed fuly and ready for work. the other main thing is always consider basic principle of roofing- to shed water away from the building as oposed to directing it inwards as some bad modern architects seem to think is ok . the romans mastered the art of lead and apart from oxy acetaline welding equip not much has changed over the years. sorry im rambling but i do get passionate about the art. call me anytime (over next 20 yr) for a price if you need my services cheers mark tomlinson, bolton plumber and lead specialist
