New drill

hi I'm looking to buy a new drill but not sure which one i am looking at a Bosch or makita 18v. I've got a bosch green at the moment but the batteries are only 1.5ah and they aren't last very long going though 3 batteries a day what would you suggest i like the looks of bosch because I've already got 2 lboxx. thanks dom

Makita gears go quickly in their cheap stuff ( £199 drill and 500 1.3ah batteries screwfix special)

i think i might go for the 3/4ah batteries my boss has got a 3 ah makita the battery lasts at least 2 weeks but i don't like the hammer on it.

2 weeks? What the freck ? I get 1 or 2 hrs out if 4ah

i bought that yesterday and took it back this morning 2hour 10mins charge time it looked great as a drill but the charge time took to long. we do a lot of refurbishments with only one socket though the whole house so there isn't a chance of charging them.

The Bosch? Must have been faulty. There's no way it should take that long to charge.

The official figure for the 3.0Ah batteries is 30 minutes.

If your looking to drill joists a lot you will need a heavy duty drill which will be heavy and ***bersome for use as a screwdriver. I would look at either the milwaukee m18 or the delwalt xr 18v non brushless versions. Then maybe later on get a bare compact drill for screw driving on the same batteries.

I've got the makita 10.8 drill driver and impact driver do I use that for screw driving

any of the above should see you good. Read the descriptions though and see the reviews research online and make an informed decision. If you buy cheap now you will regret it when you have a 25mm auger bit halfway through a triple and smoke pouring out your drill! Spend the extra £40-60 and get the right kit!!!

i also got my angle drill off of eBay brand new with the larger wattage for £100 off the retail be patient and shop around

Also look at the extended range of tools in that line as the cordless market has grown to provide "kits" that use the same battery across the range.

ie
circular saw, recip saw, impact driver, angle grinder, torch, radio all the stuff you will add as you go.

better off with this, its not brushless or 4ah but the drill is really good and you get an impact too and its cheaper than most drill only deals.
