My vans finally had it vauxhall vivaro , I'm looking at new transit
wreally like the Nissan Nivara pick up do any of you use these, I'm in 2 minds as looks the part and comfy to drive but not sure if I will struggle for space. Tools would be ok just not sure on stock
What do u think

My brother used to work for a parts delivery company and he said to me not to get a new transit. Old ones are as reliable as anything but all the mechanics he spoke to said that new transits aren't that reliable.

I am biased as I love my VW but why not look at a VW Transporter?

transporter is the schlong. that's what i'll get one day when i can afford it. i actually prefer the look of the bigger caddy's but they're just not big enough.

Yea the transporters look the part to , just looking at the price of newish vans and thinking of getting pick up for a bit of fun , pipe rack on top should be ok? It's just a case of having to get rads delivered to site

LOL@the schlong. My experience of VWs has been brill. No problems at all in over 3 years of ownership now.

I would never be able to work from a pick up. I have a VW Transporter and struggle for space as it is.

Yeah those pick ups look like pikey show off things to me, and they have to be the most impractical vehicles for any tradesman! always make me laugh when you see lads driving round with the ladders almost vertical on the back of them , or a bag and a half of sand and the back of it is full

I also have a lwb Transporter Kombi.

6 seats for me and the family if needed then a decent bulkhead and still a decent load area.

I tried Mitsi pick ups, twice and lost sh.t loads of money both times.

Great to drive but to work out of a real pain in the but, not so bad in the summer but in the dark evenings/ rainy days an absolute nightmare!

If you get a lwb you can keep your pipe inside the van without the need for a pipe rack or permanent roof rack. Stops the pikeys stealing and also allows you into multistoreys if reqd.

I can't imagine trying to work out of a pick up. No side door so if something's near the cab it'd be a nightmare to get to. High tail gate so always bashing your shins, poor security with truck top type tops and last but not least ladders and tube holders! Where would you put them?

Pick up is a waste of time. Had a ford ranger titanium crew cab. Used it for big sites ( 10 m walk from office to work face.)

What a useless heap of crud. Rear seats were only good for jackets and back was a joke. Worked ok when following a moxie (40t dump truck trough 2ft puddles ) but generally a jazzed up Suzuki jimmy!

Get a vw on lease or hire?

Being biased having a vivaro, I would buy another, or traffic/primastar without a doubt.

With Keiran on the new tranny thing. I never trust brand new technology, would rather let It run while then make my mind up

Those vivarios have a terrible reputation for reliability!

Any chance of a look in the rear part where tools etc live?

i have a 2010 plate transit with 38k on it, its been in for repair about 20 times, not a great van to be honest

I've had 8 trannies now. (Stop it ) never had anything but brakes, batteries and servicing. All did well over 125,000 miles.
best are Volkswagen and merc, but if they go wrong it'l cost.

Vauxhall, Renault and the others ate good but are worthless with any mileage.

a friend of mine has a del company and have changed to VW as the transits where costing him a fortune, they where always breaking down.
think it will be VW next for me.

ooooh you've got those brilliant easy entry windows the local junkies love round here, all they need is a brick and off they go to the pub 🙂

Sorry lame,

Behind the back seats is a Motexion bulkhead which takes effing ages to cut through with a decent jigsaw!

However if the buggers see me empty Greggs wrappers they are welcome, but I WILL FIND THEM

i was refering to the rear window mainly, as they window shop before getting the goods ! 🙂 and down ere youd have to visit rather a lot of pubs to catch the beggars, took me hours to get round them all when my garage got done, and the headache the next day!!!
